So, I went for my first appointment to try on wedding dresses this afternoon. I was supposed to go with one of my bridesmaids, but at the last minute, she had to cancel. My fiance decided that he wanted to go in her place to "give his opinion about dress styles." I had done some research on the dresses the store sells, and had pretty much made up my mind which one I wanted--it was simple, elegant and appropriate for our casual, outdoor wedding.
I ended up trying on 4-5 dresses I had pre-selected, 3 of which I threw out of the running. I really liked one of them, a more elegant, form-fitting, formal dress that fit me wonderfully. But once I got to "my dress", I really felt like it was the dress for my wedding, but my fiance said it sold myself short of looking as beautiful as I could for our wedding. I really like the dress that he picked out, but it just feels wrong for the kind of wedding we are having, and I really love the dress that I picked out.
I will be going back to the bridal shop with my mother, sisters and a few of my bridesmaids in tow to give their opinions, and ultimately I know it is my decision. But I don't want to choose a dress that makes him think "dang, my wife could look so much better than she does right now" as I walk down the aisle. What would you all do in this situation?
