Colored shoes with your dress and other questions?

I can think of 3 brides that our FB friends of mine that wore colored shoes, I'm thinking about having mine dyed the color of my bridesmaids dresses (watermelon)  Anyone else wearing colored shoes?

I got my dress at Davids and part of me is bummed cause I know they are mass produced, but I'm a bigger girl and they had such a wide selection to try on in my size, other stores maybe had 1 or 2 I could actually try on. I didn't want to order anything else in my size without trying it.  I know it doesn't matter and hopefully no one at my wedding has seen the dress on like ten other people.

For those with a puffier dress did you wear a slip? I'm still debating, it costs a lot of extra money and the dress looked ok without it. Although I saw some ebay I could buy that wouldn't cost as much.

I am searching for the perfect Purple shoes! I want my shoes to be orginal to me and stand out. I am finding that going this route that shoes are actually cheaper because they aren't considers "Wedding" shoes. I will be spending at least 30 bucks less on my shoes by shopping department stores and online for purple shoes than dyeing the ones offered by DB or anywhere else.

As for your dress, you make it original. Remember that you wear the dress not the dress wears you. Who cares if they have seen it on other brides, what you do with your accesories, hair, ,make-up and the way you strut your goods in it will make those people forget the other brides and gleam in your beauty.

As for the poof. I am in the same boat. I am not sure if I want to wear one or the poofiest of all. I will determine that after or during my first fitting. The poofiness of your dress will also change the dress and make it your own. Try it with all and determine which you like best, there are tons of deals out there, maybe you can borrow one from someone else? It will fall into place and it will all be perfect!

I looked far and wide for an adorable pair or wedding shoes. I found a cute sassy pair from DB (which I love) and I think I'm adding the "I DO" bling to the bottom for a photo op. :-) And ditto to PP, you make the dress! You'll be a beautiful bride!   PS. I'm totally wearing colored shoes, and so are my friends that are also engaged. No worries in picking something matchy-matchy or not, just choose a gorgeous pair that you're in love with!

I agree about looking for coloured shoes outside of bridal wear.  I got these at bloomingdales online and they were $60 less than the price at Zappos.  They were onsale.  Whatever you find, I suggest googling to see what you can come up with onsale.  Zappos should have some watermelon coloured shoes.  If they are a few shades off, nobody will notice.  I think coloured shoes are a great pop of colour and I know I will FOR SURE wear mine again, where I wouldn't with bridal shoes.


As for the poof.  I am wearing at least one crinoline under mine.  I tried it on with one and it wasn't quite as big as the model pic:  but it looked great in the store.  Now I'm debating because the pic of me in it, doesn't look poofy enough.  hahahahaha.  Below is the model pic.  I don't have a pic of me in it on my comp.

i got them in watermelon, of course they were very inexpensive and they are super comfy!

my dress is a trumpet/sheath style, (somewhere in between i guess? the tag says trumpet but it doesnt look as trumpet-y, if that makes any sense?) i dont have a stock photo because the dress has been discontinued. im wearing a slip under it because it made it look smoother and cleaner. too me it was worth the extra $$

my goal just like a couple of others was to look for any shoe that i liked instead of "wedding shoes" but i am a little undtraditional

mine will  be zebra with red trim fllats for the ceremony and red high heels for the reception in total costing me about 25 bucks.

Though as long as you feel they are right then they are right!

I am also in the colored shoe brigade. It took more than a month of diligent searching to find my glittery, bright purple 4" heels. Like some PP, mine are non-bridal (and very non-traditional) and cost considerably less than "wedding" shoes.

I got a pair of apple green Nina's of Zappos.  I already can't wait till I can wear them on a regular basis!

I'm going to be wearing colored shoes.  I'm actually doing the Watermelon also to match my BM's dresses.

I am searching for purple shoes to match my BM dresses.  You might consider a slip if the dress falls between your legs when you walk.  The slip might add structure to the bottom of the dress so that you're not trying to keep the dress out in front of your legs.

I'm a huge fan of coloured shoes.  White shoes with a white dress just feels so boring to me.  I agree with PP about trying to find the shoe colour you want outside of bridal shops.  You're not going to be holding the shoes up against the BM dresses.

As for the crinoline, if you prefer the look of the dress with one and you can find it for cheap on ebay, why not?

Thanks everyone, I actually already bought white shoes from DB but they are dyeable and I think I can bring them there to get dyed.

My bridesmaids each picked a color that they wanted for their shoes, so we'll be in; teal, hot pink, yelow, orange and purple. We got plain white shoes from payless for 12.99 and used Rit dye. They're perfect :]

I ordered these teal glitter shoes from ebay, for less than $50 with shipping!  Love the idea of colored shoes, go for it!



and as for the poofiness, I tried my dress on with and without a slip, and decided I am going to have them sew in extra layers of crinoline since I want the extra volume, but couldn't walk in the mermaid slip since it basically glued my legs together down to my knees lol!
check out the prices on your options between altering the dress or ordering a slip online (not from the store!)...

 I also bought my dress from David's Bridal and I had my shoes dyed their marine blue to match my bridesmaides dresses. I figured I would wear them more after the wedding then white shoes.   My dress is also a full shirt and I am not wearing a slip under it. I also felt the skirt was full enough with out it, and with one on I felt like I would not be able to sit down.

I am wearing a pair of zebra printed ballet flats (I have to wear flats for many reasons..) It is going perfect with our wedding and reception at the zoo!!

I'm wearing a pair of dark blue christian louboutins! I'm SO excited because I've loved CLs for years but they are sooo out of my price range, but I found a pair on ebay that were blue satin for under $300 and I got them!

I think I'm more excited about my shoes than my dress

as a second time bride i am opting for no slip too heavy and warm,  but it depends on your day and how poufy you really want it, in my first wedding i had to take it off~~way too uncomfortable all day long! and night long
