Vendor reviews

Our wedding went off without a hitch!  It was awesome and I would do it over and over again!  There is a recap with PIP over on the Sept 2011 board.  So on to the reviews.

Dress Alterations - It's Never Too Late (Manchester):  While Muriel the owner seemed nice enough, I feel like she didn't listen to what I wanted. She seemed more interested in getting compliments for the work that she did do.  She had set ideas in her head of things like hem lengths, bustles, etc, and didn't want to veer off of these ideas. She rescheduled my first fitting the night before. She tried to reschedule my second fitting too because she hadn't done the work but I didn't get the phone messages and showed up anyway. Only the hem had been finished. I could go on and on but I might get a cramp!     C-

Ceremony/Reception Venue - Pat's Peak
(Henniker): Love, Love, Love Pat's Peak! Our coordinator Chelsea did a great job. The food was good, everything rolled along smoothly and on time.  There are two ceremony sites/reception rooms to choose from. We chose the Circle and the Sleigh Room. The Circle is just that, a semi-circle block wall built into the lawn with a cobblestone walkway. Absolutely beautiful!  The reception room has a gorgeous stone fireplace and wooden beams!  The only bad thing I have to say is that the room got really hot! Even after I asked to have the a/c increased, it was very, very hot.  A

Make up - Andrea Masse:
I found Andrea through another New Hampshire Knottie.  She's an independant MUA in Henniker and was wonderful! She did a trial run for me and when I voiced my concerns about some of the colors, she changed them, no problem. I had misgivings about hiring a MUA and spending the money but I also wanted to make sure I looked good in my pictures. Andrea was awesome and her prices were extremely reasonable and most importantly, I really liked the way I looked!!  And she came out to the venue. A+

DJ - Eric Fletcher/DJ Etc
(Goffstown):  The best DJ I've ever heard!!!  I cannot say enough nice things about Eric.  He was super nice, full of energy, and really got the crowd dancing.  He got out there on the floor and showed us the moves to some songs we oldies had never seen before :)  There was one point, when we were doing the mother/son dance, Eric went above and beyond the usual DJ duties.  My MIL is frail and didn't think she would participate in the dance. Once the song started playing she dedided she would give it a try. My husband (!) put down his camera to dance with his mom. Eric picked up the camera and got some great shots of them dancing, pictures we may not have gotten from anyone else!  I reccommend Eric to anyone looking for a DJ.   A++++++

Cake - Just Like Mom's Pastries
(Weare) Great cake!  When I first met the owner Karen, I was a little dissapointed. She didn't seem very friendly or excited for us. I was excited, why wasn't she?  Thinking back though, of course she wasn't excited like I was, we met with her in the evening, after a long day or work, I'm sure she was tired.  Anyway, she did a great job! We had a tasting with a bunch of different cupcakes and filings, to decide what combinations tasted good together. We decided on two tiers of Red Velvet cake with a cream cheese filing and one tier of Vanilla cake with chocolate mousse filing. We brought a picture of the cake design we wanted and she did her best to duplicate it. The cake was beautiful and soooo moist!   A+

Officiant - Jane Rokes, JOP
(Keene) Jane did an amazing job!  She had a lengthy questionairre for us to fill out that was the basis of the ceremony she wrote.  It.was.amazing!  She incorporated a reading into the ceremony as well as a moment of silence for my husbands deceased father and brother. She also included something special where we presented each other's mother's with a rose.  We requested that she use the ring exchange vows we had written and it was no problem.  Many tears were shed during our ceremony because it was catered specifically to us.  A++

Photography - Laura Leigh Johnson
(Dover)  I can't give a review yet of Laura since we don't have our photos yet.  She was very nice though!

Flowers - Barrett Wholesale (Manchester) I did the centerpieces and my bouquet myself.  I ordered the flowers from Barrett's. The prices were comparable to ordering them from Sam's Club.  Sam's did not have all of the colors I was looking for and I didn't want the hassle of ordering from two different places. I picked up the flowers on Friday for a Sunday wedding.  They were in great condition and Julie is very friendly but since it's a small operation, you need to call ahead of time to make sure they're not out doing deliveries. A

Tuxes - Men's Wearhouse
(Manchester) Typical chain store. My then FI picked out the tux he wanted from their website before we went to the store. When we got there the color vest/tie he wanted was discontinued. No biggie. We went from Teal to Jade, not that big a difference and since we had no color scheme planned for the wedding, it was not a problem.  The men looked so handsome!  A

If anyone has any questions, feel free to ask! I didn't want this post to go on too long :)

    Congratulations on getting married!

I'm glad Andrea worked out so well for you. She was very nice when I used her and I'm happy I could send her some new business. I also got married at Pats Peak (same ceremony site/reception room) and loved the venue. Chelsea was actually more nervous on the day of than I was trying to keep everything running smoothly -- but she did a wonderful job. It was a bit warm inside for my wedding as well, but an absolutely gorgeous day so many of the guests hung out outside on the day or wandered up the mountain (daytime wedding).

    So when's the honeymoon??

Honeymoon's going to have to wait at least 6 months, until my husband banks some vacation time.

Our day was super hot & humid so even sitting out on the deck didn't provide much relief.  The bathroom was the coolest room in the place, LOL.

Andrea was really great.  Thank you for her info!! When I emailed her that I wanted to change the colors we used during the trial, I was afraid she'd get mad or something but nope, not a problem!  I wish I could use her everyday!
