How do you keep a cathedral veil down when walking down the aisle?

I really love the idea of a cathedral veil, but when I tried one on with with my dress and walked, it just.. dragged. It didn't stay wide open with the train, just folded into itself and snagged on the carpet. Are there any tricks on getting it to stay perfectly over the train of the dress?

  • My DJ fluffed out my train and veil just before I walked down the aisle.  My wedding was outdoors, the aisle was a brick pathway and not very wide so I'm sure some of my dress and veil were dragging in the grass and dirt but it looked fine when I got to the end.  Maybe it just needed to be fluffed out first.

  • When I tried one on at David's Bridal, the consultant told me to hook my pinkies around the edges of the veil, then use the rest of my fingers to hold my bouquet as I walk.  Would that work, maybe?

  • Someone fluffed mine out before I went down the aisle. Mine was a little wider than normal at the top so it had some extra tulle that kept it in place. Was it beaded? Maybe the weight of the beads dragged it behind?

  • It was fluffed before I walked.. and it was beaded. So maybe it was the weight of the beading that dragged it - but, I really want it beaded. I'm thinking I'll figure out some way to pin it down to the train of the dress. Good thing I have 18 months to figure this out, ha
