dress question

Dose your dress show your shoes?

My dress is the right lenght if i am bare foot.. So if i wear heels the dress won't touch the ground.

Is that tacky?

Re: dress question

  • I voted cute...but it really depends on exactly how short it is. if it lets your shoes peek out just a bit I think its fine but if you can see your whole shoe that will look weird.

  • I got shoes tall enough that my dress was off the ground a couple of inches, but you still couldn't see the shoes.  I think they showed up in precisely one shot.

Sometimes I feel like people think that brides are delicate little flower princesses who get all dressed up and pretty for one special moment of their dreams, when really they're just normal people who just happen to be getting married. Things shouldn't have to be sugar-coated for grown-ass women. -mstar284

    Thank ladies...

if i do wear heels it will be about 3 inch or so off the ground..depending on the heels... I just don't want it to look tacky...

  • maybe you could wear kitten heels if you are worried about your dress being too far off the ground...

  • Sierra,

I don't mind it being off the ground I am wanting to wear color shoes so i don't mind if they show i just didn't know if it's considered tacky to have the dress short in the front to see the shoes..

  • I think it will look great! Here is a photo where you can see the shoes, kind of like you are discribing. I think colored shoes poking out would be very cute as well!

  • I don't see an issue with it-- if you like I think that it would look fine.

  • That is fine. My dress was hemmed to my heels and you could barely see them. I think that is how it is supossed to be. If you love your shoes, just make sure your photographer gets some cute shots of you lifting up your dress a bit, etc.
  • A properly hemmed full-length gown is 1/2" off the floor with your heels on - having said that, many long gowns are not meant to be full-length. Most wedding gowns are designed to be full-length.
  • I also echo the previous poster.  It's supposed to be 1/2 an inch off the ground.  Maybe your dress would look good with flats?  They have some cute ones with nice embelishments.
  • Thanks ladies for all your input!

  • I've worked in the bridal industry for about 10 years and a full length wedding gown is to be hemmed 1/2- 1 inch off the floor.  I think three inches will look like your gown is too short.  Your best option, if you haven't ordered your dress yet- see if it comes in extra length.  That way you can wear whatever shoes you want to underneath and not have to worry about looking tacky.  If you have, I'd stick to something with a big of a lower heel.
  • Holmscheid,

I got my wedding dress off someone who  ordered it and then changed her mind. So i already have it..  It's touches the floor in bare feet.. so i was worried if i wear heels it will look to short. I guess i need to try it on with some similar heels to see how it will look..

Thanks for all your input ladies.
