Bra Advice

Sorry if this has been posted 10,000 times before me, but I just got called into work (boohiss) and don't have time to scour the boards for info like I had originally intended.  Unfortunately this is a hit and run post, but I will be back 5pm PST  and am looking forward to what you lovely ladies have to say!

I'm going in for my dress alterations tomorrow, yay!  I know you are supposed to bring all the garments you plan to wear, including shoes!, so you get just the right fit.  I feel like an idiot but it didn't occur to me until last night that I STILL hadn't decided about my bra situation.

My dress is strapless, it's a David's Bridal dress (style E4837).  I'd upload a pic for you so you could see the shape, but I'm pretty sure it's been discontinued a while back as when I google for it, I've found maybe four images all together.  Or I just really suck at the internetz. :)

Anyways, I feel like I'm always have to pull up on a strapless bra, and I don't want to worry about that all day on my wedding day!  I was hoping for some good alternatives, if you ladies had any.  I'm self consious about going bra-less, I"m a 36 very full C (thanks mom) so my seamstress can't sew cups in, apparently.

Suggestions VERY much appreciated!

Re: Bra Advice

  • I'm also a 36C and wore cups on my wedding day. I'm not sure why your seamstress thinks it's impossible.
  • You could see if they can sew a built in bra into the dress. I don't know if this is something they have the expertise for, but I am sure you can take the dress elsewhere. Also, you could get some of those gel petals (I know VS sells them) or one of those invisible bras that uses silicone cups.

  • Your seamtress should be able to sew in cups regardless of your bra size.

Beyond that I would try a long bra (sorta corset style without the high back). It should be more comfortable than a strapless bra because it hugs your rib cage and won't feel like it's falling down.

  • my sister is probably a 34 C or D, and she just went commando on her wedding day.  her dress fit her wonderfully and provided the support she needed.  i'm a 34 DD but i'll probably just go sans bra too.
  • Thanks ladies, I appreciate all the advice!
