Your Ideas Please - Bridal Skirt

Hi Everyone!

I am tying the knot in June of next year, and am looking for some opinions concerning bridal attire.

We are having an evening ceremony, outdoors (in a field to be exact). The recepetion will follow in a beautiful barn overlooking the water (same location). We are going for a casual, vintage carnival/circus feel, with pastel colours, and fresh flowers picked from my Grandfather and Mother's gardens.

My lovely Aunt will be making my 'dress' for me - I need to make some design decisions in the next few weeks, so she can get started.

I have decided to do an Ivory Satin and Tulle skirt, similar to the one below. I absolutely LOVE the bottom hem and the bow! The corset section will be lower, and the bow will be longer. (This skirt was found on Etsy)

All is need to decide now, is the top! Does anyone have any sugguestions? I am looking for something fairly simple. Your thoughts and examples are much appriciated!

  • What a fun skirt! I think because there isn't a lot of embellishments on the skirt, you could do any sort of shape on top that feels flattering to you. A sweet heart fitted corset top makes me think of a tightrope walker's outfit. (since you mentioned circus)

sounds like a fun wedding theme :)

I LOVE the strapless sweetheart neckline, but unfortunatley I don't think it will work for me (I should have mentioned this in my original message). I am very busty (36G) and wouldn't feel comfortable in a strapless all night. We will be doing lots of differnet games and activies so I need to be able to move around.

    Struggle, struggle, struggle. Hehe.

  • I immediately thought of BHLDN because they have really gorgeous, romantic separates for bridal.  Your skirt makes me think of that.

This page shows them all, but I especially like the "Fine tuned corset" and "bound together top".

You might not find something that is exactly perfect, but it might give you an idea.

I like the corset idea, but it doesn't have to be strapless.

  • like monkeysip said, the corset can have straps and/or sleeves.  Check Starkers corsetry.  Depending on how it is laced, though, it can actually help minimize the bustline and/or keep it in check.

    Hope that helps

One thing to remember: The wedding is just one day. The marriage is all the rest of them.

    Thanks for your help!

I had a quick peek at BHLDN and I see several things on there that may work!

    Thanks again :)
