Lace Wedding Dress on the Beach

Hi all - I just started trying on wedding dresses and I fell in love with the Monique Lhuillier "Monet." However, I am eloping on a beach and have been told that this is too dressy for a beach wedding and that lace is too traditional for my location. The groom will most likely be wearing khakis and a white linen shirt, so I'm not sure if this dress will look out of place or not. Any opinions?

Lace can mean any number of things, formal or informal really. A picture could help make a better decision. But about something being "too traditional"? Screw that, if you love it, you love it! Be as traditional or non-traditional as you want, its about loving what you're wearing regardless. For reference, here is a picture of the dress in question. There is a slight train, but I would have that removed so it fell straight down all the way around.

I had a beach wedding.....and I wore a lace dress.  A friend had a destination wedding on a beach and Mexico, and also wore a lace dress.  It's perfect.

I couldn't agree more.  I'm having a beach wedding and have a lace dress too.  My fi hasn't chosen his clothes yet but will prob do the same as yours with khakies and linen shirt.  Go for it!
