Have I bought my wedding dress to soon???

Hi everyone!

I have had a thought in my head for the past couple of weeks and I'm trying to figure something out. I got engaged back in February and I went to David's Bridal about a month after. I tried on somewhere around 8 dresses. And I did fall in love with one. My Mother and Father are buying my dress for me so after my mom questioning if I was sure about this dress and made sure it was the one she purchased it for me. And now that I've had a few months to take everything in I'm wondering if I've jumped the gun and purchased one too soon. I have seen other dresses that I wouldn't mind trying on. But I can't bring myself to talk to my Mother about it. What should I do? Any advice would be appreciated!

  • Stop looking at dresses! lol If you are having real doubts about the dress I would go back to David's and try it on again. I got engaged on July 4th and bought the dress 10 days later so I don't think you bought to soon. If after trying on your dress again and you don't like it any more I would see if you could cancell your order or return the dress and re-start your search. Its very easy to forget that feeling you first had because it's such a whirlwind trying dresses on for the first time. IMO there's a reason you got the first one and sometimes after not seeing it for a while we tend to forget, GL!
  • Ditto - stop looking! Don't even THINK about trying on another. Just let it be and move on to other parts of your planning.

  • Please Please Please stop looking at dresses or thinking about them.  You're fighting against yourself with this one.  Focus on other aspects of your planning.  Trust your first instinct about the dress.  If all else fails, do what PP said - go to DB try on the dress, but only that dress.

  • You bought your gown for a reason. I'm sure that when you put it on again, all the feelings of why you fell in love with it will come flooding back.

As PPs have said, stop looking at other gowns, or you will continually second-guess your purchase. Trust your decision, and I'm sure you'll be beautiful on your wedding day!

  • Ditto to all the PP's. Once you have purchased a dress stop looking! It's like the one cardinal rule of dress shopping once you say yes and pay . . you're done.
  • I bought my dress a full year before our wedding and I definitely went through the same thing. I would see a beautiful dress online and wonder if I should have waited, but then I would try my dress on and fall in love with it all over again.

Go with your gut and try to stop looking around. If you just love to look and can't stop yourself (like me), recognize the fact that there are a million beautiful dresses out there and you don't need to try them all on :)

  • Stop looking.  Seriously.  There are a lot of bridal gown choices out there, so it's totally understandable that you might be wondering if yours really is it. But, if you limit the number of other dresses you see, you're ahead of the game.  You  have so many other decisions to make - focus your energies on those!

Instead of focusing on what your dress is lacking (in your mind), remind yourself of what you loved about it and how you felt in it that made you decide to get it.

  • I bought one, didn't stop looking, bought another (both on clearance), wasn't sure, kept looking and ended up with a third dress. Lol. I think if I had stopped looking at dresses that were so different from the first one I wouldn't have bought any additional dresses. TRUST ME, Stop Looking. It will only get you caught up in the what ifs
  • You guys are awesome!! Thank you so much to all of you for responding to my post. You all have made me feel more confident in my decision. I will definately stop looking and start focusing on everything else!!!
