Bridesmaids shoes

So I have 5 bridesmaids and 1 jr. bridesmaids in my wedding.  For their dresses I picked a color and let them pick the style dress they wanted--the bridesmaids' dresses are brown w/ blue sashes and the MOH's dress is blue with brown sashes.  My questions is should I chose 1 shoe for everyone to tie them all together or do like the dresses and pick a color and they chose the style???  Also my wedding is peacock colors and brown in Oct...what color shoe do you think will look best??  thanks!!!!!!!

Re: Bridesmaids shoes

  • It'd be a lot easier, and more considerate, to just pick a color and let them choose their own shoes. People won't even notice their shoes, especially if the dresses are long.

I think that gold shoes would look good with the brown dresses. For the blue dress, gold or silver would probably work well.

You could even specify "strappy sandals" if you want ... all strappy sandals pretty much look the same anyway. (Unless you know that any of your BMs dislike a certain style, in which case don't require it. For example, my BM will NOT wear open-toed shoes. She wore closed-toe and my MOH wore peep-toe pumps, but they both wore black shoes, and it looked fine.)

  • I agree with pp, letting them choose would be easy and could work nicely. I think gold would be good.

However, I know that with my BMs everyone had a hard time finding good shoe options and it might have been easier on everyone if we had all just picked out a single shoe.  So, do whatever you want.
  • I would pick brown and tell them to go from there.  IMO gold would look good with the brown, but not the blue.  Brown would be good with all of them.

  • Originally I told them to just wear a pair of strappy gold heels, because they all kept asking me what to do about the shoes. Then my MOH pointed out that they're wearing knee length dresses and all their feet would be showing so they should all match. I still wasn't crazy about the idea, but I started looking around and all I could find were shoes for like $50-$70 and I didn't want to tell my girls to spend that much on shoes after buying their dresses. Then my mom said, "Have you checked Payless?" so I checked Payless and found really cute strappy gold heels on sale for $14.99 and emailed them out to all my girls and they loved them! One of my BM's is getting married in August and loved them so much she told her girls about them and now they'll be wearing them too.

My advice would be to just tell them a color and have them go from there, but if you find something you really like for a great price like I did, go ahead and tell them about it. They may all like it enough to go out and buy it. HTH!
