Wearing a shrug or faux fur stole *during* the ceremony?

Yay or nay?

We're getting married 12/21/13 in Colorado. I'm from Texas and get cold very easily! Would it be inappropriate to wear a shrug or faux fur stole during the actual church ceremony?
I just can't find a 3/4 sleeve or full sleeve dress that I like.

<div>I certainly don't think it would be inappropriate.  I wore a 3/4 sleeve bolero jacket over my strapless dress in the church.  I tried several options, but I found the jacket to be better because I didn't have to worry about it slipping off like a shawl might. </div><div>
</div><div>Ultimately, I chose a dress that I could order a matching bolero to, but there are a lot of options out there right now for jackets/shrugs as well as wraps/stoles that can be purchased separately from the dress.  Look around, I am sure you'll find something you like!</div>

  • Honestly? I think it might look a bit odd in the church.

  • A lot of churches require shoulders to be covered during the ceremony anyway. Even if yours doesn't, I don't think it would look weird.  You could always have something just in case -- you can wear it on your way to the church, and if your'e still cold in the church you can keep it on.  If not, you can take it off.  Make it a game-time-decision.

I think for a Decemer wedding in CO, it wouldn't hurt to have something to wear in transit, for any pictures, or any time you're outside that day, so it wouldn't be a waste of money.

  • I am rarely comfortable, and find myself chilly in most venues. Be comfortable! I am not pleased with the appearance of my bare arms, and looked for a bolero to assist with both comfort and peace of mind. Mother says I 'could' go without the jacket aesthetically, but MOH says wear it, and hope you don't freeze! Whatever YOU decide, should work :)

  • I'm all for a shrug if it's cold.  I hate being cold!
  • I made myself a faux fur "stole" for my wedding.  (Lake Tahoe in November)  I don't plan on being outside much.  (A few picture if it's snowing - which I hope happens!)  I get cold easily as well and thought that I would wear it for the ceremony.  However, we're going to have a nice big fireplace going so I may not need it.  I'm going to play it by ear I think.
