Mismatched Men

Wedding is informal wedding at a wax museum. My dress is ivory lace, old Hollywood glamor style. Without thinking it through we bought FI an awesome pinstriped tan suit. I told my MOH and BM to shop at Goodwill but they bought matching dark purple short chiffon dresses at DB. Should the groomsman and best man wear black suits they already have? Or khaki pants and white shirts and we will buy them striped purple ties? I really didn't want to make people spend money in addition to travel expenses just to be in our wedding.

Your FI should decide his groomsmens' attire.

I tend to prefer men in suits for weddings, but it's really up to your FI.

If your FI is wearing a suit, then the groomsmen should match the level of formality and wear suits, not shirt and pants.

I know it's up to him but it is stressing him out and when I tell him I don't care he gets mad!

If he is stressed and wanting your help then you should help him.  He would most likely do the same for you if you were stressing over something that should be only your decision.

Like PP said, if he is wearing a suit the others guys should too.  I think it would be fine if his GM wore any black suit that they had and you provide them with a coordinting tie.

Usually the groom is dressed a little differently than the groomsmen to set him apart.  So if you wanted to do a different tie for him, you could.  But you are fine either way.
