Can you help explain bustling and shoes?

Ok so my plan is to wear wedge flip flops to my reception. I bought heels for the ceremony today that I love and they are 4 1/2 inches tall.

So if I bought flip flops that are only 3 inches how would that work?

I don't want my dress to be too short when I'm in my heels at the ceremony OR too long and dragging at the reception.

So when they do the bustle, will that make it shorter once the train is pulled up?

So can I get my dress altered to work with my ceremony heels and then pulling it up into the bustle afterwards will compensate the extra length, making it slightly shorter so my dress won't drag with flip flops on?

The back will be shorter, the front will be the same.

Bustling it will only affect the length in the back. I would take both pairs of shoes to your fitting and ask your seamstress what she suggests.

Sometimes if you have your seamstress put in side bustles (can look cute with the right dress) you can make the front shorter for the reception.  What does the skirt portion of your dress look like??
