Tips on breaking in shoes needed!

I have two pairs of heels that I need to break in. One is for my bach party and the other for the wedding. Does anyone have any tips on how to break them in so my feet won't have to suffer on these 2 important days?

  • I have been told to put a little bit of Vaseline on the inside heel part so your feet don't rub. You should also walk around outside in them and scuff them up a bit.
  • I've heard to get use to wearing your wedding shoes to put them on in the house (not outside) and do general household tasks. As in: washing dishes, doing laundry, or just hanging out. I think they say to do this once or twice a week for a 3-4 weeks before the wedding. Don't take them outside because you don't want to get them dirty.

I got some high healed shoes a couple weeks ago and I wore them around for an evening or two after work. My FI thought it was cute (high heals with pj shorts and such) and it made them much easier to wear to work the first time. (I had given up HIGH heals for approximately 3 years before those and I got them so I could get use to heals for the wedding; I now require myself to wear heals at least 2x a week. I used a wedding a few weeks ago to get use to dancing in heals again.)
  • Ditto PP's.  Wear them around your house as often as you can.  I also wear the thickest socks I can to help stretch everything.  It's also helpful to wear them around so you know where, if anywhere, they rub so that you can get inserts or something and have them all comfy and adjusted already for the big day.

  • Yep, depending on the shoe, try wearing them with a pair of socks. Otherwise, just wear them around the house!
  • I would also make sure that your shoes are not slippery on the bottoms. If you think that they may at all slip, rub the bottoms with sandpaper to rough them up.

  • Rub the bottom -- lightly -- with some sandpaper.  Wear them around the house for 15 - 20 minutes at the end of the day ... after dinner, when feet are likely to be a bit swollen.

    Good luck!

  • Wear them around the house with socks on, like athletic socks.  It will help a lot.
