What color the mother of groom should wear

My son is getting married in June.  The bridesmaids are wearing yellow dresses accented with clementine.  The mother of the bride is wearing aubergine. The guys are wearing black.  What color would be appropriate for the mother of the groom to wear?

Whatever color she wants, especially if she hasn't asked for your input.  The MOG is in very few pictures with the bridesmaids or even the MOB, so she doesn't really have to even coordinate with them.

Agreed!  The mother of the groom can wear whatever she wants.  Adults get to choose and it's important to find something to feel great in!  (Although I will say it's probably best to stay away from white or related color just to avoid hurt feelings...)

Did she ask for input? If not I would just let her pick whatever color she wants.

If she did ask for input then I would say something like, "The colors of the wedding are xyz, but you can wear any color you want" That way she knows what everyone else is wearing and she can decide for herself if she wants to match (or not match) with that color scheme depending on what looks best on her.

OP IS the MOG.  

You can wear whatever you feel fantastic in!  Find something you love rock it, just try and match the same level of formality as the MOB and at the same level or above the female guests.

Thanks for asking this question too. My FMIL asked me what she should wear and I told her our colors but do remember in weddings I've been to that MOG and MOB didn't always necessarily match the wedding party. I honestly don't care what she wears, as long as she's happy in it.
