bridesmaids dresses - mix and match styles

Hello fellow brides!

Because my bridesmaids are all quite different sizes and proportions, I'd really like to let them choose their own styles, but I'd like to have somewhat of a cohesive look.

Any advice for designers I could look into where I could choose a fabric and color and give them options of styles to choose from?  Ideally, they should be available nationally because my ladies are all over and I'd like them to be able to try them on if they want.  And I'd like to keep the price under about $250...

Thanks!

Re: bridesmaids dresses - mix and match styles

  • Most designers offer a fairly wide variety of dresses in each of the colors they carry.  Is the $250 number from you, or from your bridesmaids?  They should all really get a chance to weigh in on how much they're comfortable spending.

If they've all approved $250, David's Bridal is definitely within that range, and I believe Alfred Angelo is as well.  I'm not too familiar with other designers, but I'm sure someone else can recommend some.

Sometimes I feel like people think that brides are delicate little flower princesses who get all dressed up and pretty for one special moment of their dreams, when really they're just normal people who just happen to be getting married. Things shouldn't have to be sugar-coated for grown-ass women. -mstar284
  • My BM's all had different styles and I even went with 2 different colors. We got the dresses at DB. Some of the BM's did choose the same styles, but they were free to choose whatever style they wanted as long as it was in the color and the correct length.
  • IMO, they dont need to be the same deisgner/fabric/etc.  they will look cohesive if they're all in the same color, even if they dont match perfectly.  check out the wedding blogs for TONS of photos!

My bridesmaids got theirs at JCrew. A lot are under $250, but we also waited and were able to use a 25% off when you spend $150 or more coupon so they all ended up being under $200. They send out 20 and 25% off coupons quite a bit if you sign up for their newsletter. Also, if you order from the store it's free shipping and you can return to the store and get a refund if they don't work out.

  • My BM dresses were from Aria dresses.  They were from the silk shantung fabric- all the dresses from the same length and fabric type are the same price- eg mine were all $200.  They only have stores in Boston and DC on the east coast, but they do have a great mail program for dress try-ons.  www.ariadress.com

Pics in my bio.  My girls are all different shapes and sizes, and they looked awesome.
  • I am having the same problem but located this site.  I am ordering a sample this week but havent received yet
