Whats easier?

So, I'm getting married in Boston next June, but I currently live in St. Louis. My first thought was to find and buy my dress in St Louis, because then I could easily go in for fittings and such, but then I got worried about how I would get the dress to Boston. The whole shipping it thing makes me nervous I guess. So instead, I've made dress appointments in Boston for when I'm home next, and I can just go for fittings when I'm home doing wedding stuff. The only thing with that is I dont' know how often I'll be in Boston before the wedding. So far, planning from afar has been working well because we have a planner. Does anyone have any experience with this? Do you think I should get my dress in St Louis or in Boston? Thanks!

  • You should have your fittings in the city you currently live.  Your last fitting should be no more than a week before your wedding (with your first about 1 month before).  If you'll be in Boston those times then it's fine to leave it there but if not then it's best to do it where you live.  A lot of ladies on here fly with their dresses.  They call the airline ahead of time and ask about the first class cabin.  Most of the time the airline can't guarantee a spot for your dress so you'll have to fold it in half and lay it in the overhead bin.  I shipped my dress with insurance.  I figured it was shipped to me and it came in fine.  If you travel with your dress or have it shipped just make sure you have a cleaners that will be able to steam your dress when you get there to get out the wrinkles from travel.
