Veil during reception?

My veil is obnoxiously long. I love it, but there's a very strong chance it will get ruined if I keep it on during the reception. Anyone else in a similar situation? Are you getting a shorter veil for the reception or are you going sans veil for the rest of the night?

Re: Veil during reception?

  • I took off my cathedral length veil for the reception and put flowers in my hair.  I know some people bustle long veils, but I don't like how that looks at all.
  • I had a semi-cathedral length veil and it came off and stayed off as soon as formals were done. I didn't put anything else in my hair. And I'm not a fan of bustled veils either, it doesn't look bustled to me, it just looks bunched up and not right to me.
  • I have a chapel length veil.  I plan on taking it off and putting a silk flower in my hair for the reception.
  • Me too.  Cathedral veil for the ceremony, flower fascinator for the reception.  I will wear my veil, however, for the cake cutting when we enter, and I will wear it during dinner.  I'm a bit of a diva! ;)
