Petite Wedding dresses???

I'm 5'0 and I tried wedding dresses on for the first time and it was awful!! All the dresses were so long and none of them even came close to fitting. I know i can have it altered but the dresses were just so disperportion because of my height (or lack there of). Are there any other short brides out there?? What designers make Petite dresses???

Just found out today that a lot of designers do, some depending on the dress, some can do anything in petite. Your bridal consultant should be able to tell you. Samples are still for taller people though.

i'm also 5' nothing. i got my dress from david's bridal and some locations actually have petite dresses in stock.

this probably won't make much sense... but even if the dress looks out of proportion with the sample, you might be able to get the seams taken up- like the waist moved up, etc. or if you get a dress where there aren't any seams from the waist down, you can take in the sides to make it look more proportionate. my dress is a good 7" too long, but since it's all the same material, it just needs a good hemming. PIB. lol.

My dress is a Christina Wu.  The gown I picked (5508 in case you want to look) actually HAD to have a custom length measurement since the bottom of the dress can't be hemmed.  It cost me extra, but it also saves me from having to pay for length alterations.  They measured me in shoes that would be the height of my shoes.

I'm only 4'11" and I just bought a petite mermaid dress by Maggie Sottero.  In addition, there is a TON of beadwork at the bottom and along the train.  However, with the petite dress and probably 3-4 inch heels, I probably won't need to get anything removed off the bottom.  So Maggie Sottero has great dresses in petite sizes as well!

Thanks everyone!! I think I found the dress. Davids Bridal had a large selection of petite dresses in the store for me to try one. It was great. I finally got to see how a wedding dress is supposed to fit. Thanks again for all the recommendations and encouraging words!
