I have ordered Maggie Sottero's Grace.

I've always wanted a gown with straps, and I ordered the shawl that's made out of the same lace as the dress for straps to be made out of. Now that I'm getting closer to trying it on again, I'm looking at it and getting nervous that adding the straps is going to take away from the delicateness that I like about the dress. At the same time, dresses like this one

Has anyone had experience adding to a dress? Did you find the additions looked authentic or did it look like things were added on?
