Shipping Costs???

Help! I just (kinda) said YES to the dress. I was playing phone tag with the bridal salon this evening, so we haven't spoken directly.

In any case, I was thrilled to find my dress at this salon because I had tried it on at the first salon I visited and loved it. But it was pricey. At the second salon, the price was about $300 less, AND her alteration prices are more reasonable.

What's disturbing is that she left a message saying, yes, we should order it soon because it's coming from Barcelona (it's a LaSposa gown) and the shipping costs are... $186. Really? One hundred and eighty six dollars for shipping. Plus tax?  I had no idea.  I kind of want to call the first salon back, but it's still less by about $100...
Surprised

Is this your experience with the dress pricing?

And am I the only bride to be that's on The Knot on Valentine's day? (We're going out this weekend)

Re: Shipping Costs???

  • Ok... that could make sense. But I have a piece of paper where she wrote the price of the gown and then + tax & ship $15.00.  I thought that shipping was $15.00. This is a huge difference!!! I am hoping I misheard what she said on the message.
  • As far as I know, you will be the one to pay tax. Plus , the shipping cost is pretty expensive.
  • I'd probably call and say something like "wow, that's really high for shipping isn't it?  I feel like I was misled on the price of the dress!"  see what they say.

Then call the first place and see what their shipping is and tell them - "hmm, I have a quote from  XYZ place for the same gown for $123 total - I'd really rather buy from you because I prefer your service/location etc. Can you work with me on the price?"

I'd still go with the lowest total cost.
  • So, I completely misheard her. The shipping was included in the price of the dress :)
