my dress is..

My dress is Ivory & this has been stressing me out a little, cause everything thats white now has to be ivory is this the case?
And my FI wants to still do the black tux, but should the inside of his shirt be off-white?
 is there such a thing...*sigh* *overwhelmed *

    Will my neutrals clash?
You might be wondering whether your ivory gown will look okay next to your fiance's white shirt, or whether your bridesmaids can wear chocolate brown when the guys are in black tuxes. You're not alone! A good 15-20% of the posts on this board ask about issues like these, so we're using this thread to share our collective advice and experience.

My own advice about shirts: shirts and gowns don't need to match perfectly, or even closely, for that matter. To borrow a phrase from another poster, "no one is going to grab your train, hold it up next to your new husband's shirt, and make a big deal about them not matching." White, diamond white, ivory, ecru, eggshell, and so many others are very similar shades of the same color. When photographed, they often look identical. This even goes for flowers. My own bridal bouquet was made up of ivory flowers, but did not look dark next to my white gown.

My own advice about black/brown/navy/olive on wedding parties: As chocolate brown bridesmaid dresses have become more and more popular, we've started getting lots of questions about whether it's okay for grooms and groomsmen to wear black tuxes with them. It is, and the same goes for other neutrals. While you normally wouldn't pair these colors on a single person, they don't clash when they're on two different people. In fact, the guys and gals in the wedding party aren't even together for that much of the day, or in that many of the photos. When they are, the bride is often in the middle, breaking things up.
  • OMG ! thank you for making me feel ok, so Should any one else be allowed to wear ivory/white ?! my aunts were thinkin about wearing the same color as me ? i did NOT approve
  • Your aunts or anyone else for that matter should know that white/ivory colors are reserved for the bride. In my opinion it's rude for guests to wear either of these colors to a wedding, but as PP said, there will be no mistaking who the bride is. If anything, it will make them look bad.

You can't tell you guests what they can or can't wear.  If they show up in white, they'll look ridiculous.  But you can't tell them what colors they can't wear.

<div>Anyone is "allowed" to, it's just not good etiquette.  If they ask "is it ok...?" I think you can politely say that you'd prefer they wear something else.  If you just heard it through the grapevine, I don't see any polite way of handling the situation.  Like PP said, if they show up in white, they look silly, not you.  And on't worry, I doubt anyone will mistake them for the bride ;-)</div>
