"Perfect" dress

I found a dress that I really like, it looks good on me and my mother actually likes it too.  But I'm scared that I change my mind about the dress.  I only get to choose ONE dress and I want it to be perfect.  I don't care if everything else is a flop, but my wedding dress must be perfect.

The dress is not what I thought I will choose.  It's a slim fitting A-line dress and I thought I would go for a corset-ball-gown dress.

I'm so stressed - what if I buy the wrong dress??

Re: "Perfect" dress

  • If you love the dress, I would buy it and stop looking. If you aren't sure, keep looking so you can compare the dress to a few other ones.

  • I didn't go with what I originally thought I would choose either, and a lot of other ladies on here will tell you the same thing.  Trust your instincts, especially if the price is right :-)
Whoever said it was supposed to be happily ever after is a big fat liar.
  • PP is right, I went completely opposite from what I thought I wanted. In fact, I don't think there's a single thing about my dress that matches what I wanted. But I couldn't imagine a more gorgeous dress.
  • Agreed with PPs.  I wanted a lacy mermaid dress and ended up with a full tulle ballgown. and here I thought I hated tulle......I wouldn't change my dress at all.

  • Once you buy a dress, STOP LOOKING!!  If you aren't sure though, I would take the time to look at a few more dresses.  If none of them give you the same feeling as this dress, then I think it's pretty safe to say it is THE dress and you should buy it (and then stop looking).

As a sidenote, I don't think the dress is the one thing that has to be 'perfect'.  You are a the bride and no doubt your FI will think you look beautiful in anything.

  • Have you shopped every salon in your area?  Have you tried all the dresses you think might look good on you?

If so, and you're going back to this one. This is it.

You'll know it's the one when it will blot out every single other dress in your mind, and the only time you'll want to look at other dresses so to gleefully remind yourself how yours is perfect for you.

  • Shop every store in your local area.  IF you have doubts about the dress it will only be settled by research.

The more you know the less you are likely to make a bad decision.  Do not decide on anything on the fly unless you feel you have made an informed decision.
  • I very much disagree with the pp's who suggested you stop looking. This is a dress, not a man, and there's nothing wrong with trying on some more!

Try on some more dresses that you think you might be interested in and if you keep comparing them to that dress that you love and you don't find something you love as much then buy that dress. If you stop trying on dresses all together you will probably doubt your decision later on and freak out while it's on order.

Also, the dress I ordered is completely different from what I originally planned - I wanted a princess-ballgown type and ended up with a sexy mermaid style :)
