Honeymoon choices

Hi ladies,

So we met with a travel agent and we're close to our honeymoon, but unfortunately have to make a decision by Thursday to get the "good" rate so I just wanted to get feedback.

We got priced for the Sandals Resort in the Bahamas it's all inclusive, a little more than we wanted to spend but it looks worth it.  We'd get  a really nice room with a view meals, all that jazz.

But now my FI is finally money concious and started looking around for cheaper alternatives, he's set on doing something in the Virgin Islands, but nothing we look at looks all that much nicer or even with as much to do, and we'd only save maybe $1000.  Trust me I want to save everywhere we can but why spend a lot for wedding and then nothing for a honeymoon right?

So I guess I'm just curious if you have good or bad feedback on either option.  Or if there is a totally different direction we should be looking.

Thank you!

We compared a lot of places and we are heading to the Sandals in the Bahamas in April.  I like it because of all the options available for things to do and eat, though I can't give feedback on the resort yet!

is your travel agent charging you a fee?  if so, look at "national" travel agents, like Travel by VIP.  They are recommended a lot on the knot and that is who I contacted for our honeymoon and that is who we are booking through--there are no fees for booking through the agency but you still get a real person to talk to and go to with your questions, problems, etc.  this could be a good way to save money if your travel agent IS charging you a fee.

other than that advice, I say, if you HAVE the extra $1000 that it is worth it to have the perfect vacation (honeymoon or not!).  good luck!

Have you considered Jamaica couples resorts?  We have not booked but I have not found anything close to what they offer.  They are comperable to Sandles in that Couples is all inclusive but smaller so its not packed and their best room goes for what Sandles mid to low level costs.  They are super all inclusive including a "couples lounge" at the airport when you arrive in Jamaica and I have read only great things.  Check them out through tripadvisor.com as well as their website.  They have a chat boards where you can read reviews.  We are looking at Negril.   I have tried to find other all inclusives that compare to what they offer and their pricing and I haven't yet.

    Good Luck
