Hoop Skirts

Have any of you worn a hoop skirt for your wedding or have any experience with it? It seems like a lighter easier version of a crinoline.   I'm considering it but I'm nervous that when I sit down, it'll pop right up.  Any thoughts?

Here was a shot of the gown I wore for my RTD shoot with a 3 hoop skirt underneath. I had one from a costume I wore a few years ago.

I chose to wear a crinoline under it, I found it easier to wear and also filled out the skirt nicely.

You can also find combination hoop/crinolines on ebay very reasonably. HTH

if you sit incorectly yep it pops right up! I wore these under antubellem dresses in my twenties ( i was a museum tour guide) we typically wore pantaloons or under skirts so nothing got flashed you also are supposed to lift the hoop and skirt one to two inches before you sits which helps the bones to bend and fit onto the chair so the front won't pop up.
this thread had lots of advice,

  • I wore one under my dress and didn't have any issues. Just put it on before the big day and practice sitting and walking in it. It seriously takes less than 5 minutes to realize what you need to do. A hoop will help your dress keep it's shape and will also make you "cooler" if you have a summer wedding.
