My Dress is here but I don't know if it's the one anymore

My dress came in and I tried it on today but I don't think I like it as much as when I tried it on the first time.  :(    I don't know if I like the lace as much anymore and when I tried it on it was in ivory but I ordered white because I thought I liked white better on all the other dresses I tried on.   I like the dress, I just don't know if I LOVE the dress like I thought I did.  I've been so unsure of every decision I've had to make with this wedding.  I wish David Tuttera would just come and take over!!!!

Here's some pics of me in the dress.  Did any of you feel like you got the wrong dress once your dress came in? And if so, what did you do?

  • Yeah, I had the same feeling, so you definitely aren't alone. I didn't have the heart to look for a second dress. I probably could have afforded to buy a second dress and try to sell the first, but that seemed like such a wasteful thing to do. I got myself into other aspects of the wedding to distract myself, and kept an eye out for accessories that I loved. I ended up with a flower for my hair, a sash for the dress (which I didn't end up wearing after all), and a veil i made myself. I think that if you still like the dress, but maybe don't love it, try to do what I did. I was glad I didn't spend a ton of money on a second dress after the fact, because I liked mine and thought it ended up looking great once my hair and makeup were done and I had the "I'm getting married today" glow. Does that help at all?
  • And, for what it's worth, your dress is beautiful. The back of it is absolutely breathtaking, so don't be too disappointed with it :)

    Ditto!
  • Your dress is beautiful!

My dress came in and I hated it.  Mostly because it was so ill fitting even though they made it per my measurements.  I finally have another fitting this coming week so we will see.  But that was nearly two months ago and right away I purchased a new dress online from David's Bridal.  The DB dress is too big and that is currently being altered.  I'm just so po'd over the whole thing.  My wedding is like 42 days away and I have no dress.
  • Same Boat here!! Picked out and ordered my dress at Davids in December, it was pretty and flattering and everyone loved it. the more and more i though about it it just wasnt what i wanted and i didnt like it. It came in, around the mid-end of march and i didnt even want to go pick it up!! i kept trying to clean a spot in the closet so i could go pick it up and i just didnt want to. I finally called davids about 2 weeks ago and told them the situation and because i havent picked up my dress they are going to allow me to return it for a full refund. My suggestion is talk to the store you bought it from and make another apt to try on dresses. If you try others on, maybe nothing will compare to what you already have. or maybe you will actually fall in love with something. Hopefully the store you purchased it from will work with you. Go with your gut, if you feeling is that you dont want it to be your wedding dress, then you dont want it to be your wedding dress!!
  • Girl! That dress is amazing and it looks really good on you! Maybe if you're not as excited about it anymore you can try some really funky accessories, maybe a long pearl couture necklace or maybe some colorful shoes to add that extra spark? I think on your wedding day you'll be more focused on the love you have your husband and how excited your guests are for you than if you're more than so-so excited about the dress, because it's very pretty!!! Keep your attention on other details and please, don't confuse yourself with looking at other dresses. I've seen it too many times on here...girls shopping for dresses even after they've ordered a dress then getting all confused (unless you can afford just buying a whole second dress but then that will still have you guessing which dress to wear on that special which i think it counter productive but that's just me :)  ) Good Luck!!
  • I think a lot of us go through this. I loved mine when I tried it on and bought it right away, the rush overwhelms you that you finally picked your dress and found the one! But then as time passes and you are planning away, of course you will come across other dresses on TV, magazines, TK... and you start to think, shoot I like that dress too, would I like it better than mine? Did I do the right thing? But try to think back to that feeling you had when you ordered, the feeling you got when you put that dress on that you didn't get from any of the others. I think your dress looks great! Very flattering, and the white is very pretty. Don't doubt the decision you made, you will be a gorgeous bride!

  • I had that feeling once the alterations were begun because they weren't done properly.  I didn't buy a new one because of the money thing, but in retrospect, I wish I had looked and tried to find one off the rack.  My dress was beautiful, but never did fit correctly.  I'd look if I were you.  Once my dress was put together with hair, makeup and veil, it did give me a good feeling, but looking at pictures I can see the flaws.

This.    There are tons of amazing dresses out there, but most of us can only afford one!

Your dress is beautiful !  I hope you find the spark again :)
  • Maybe I was just having an ugly day.  I have had doubts about every decision I've made for this wedding so I guess it's only normal that I have doubts about the dress.  I think once I get my accessories and figure out my hairstyle and makeup it will all come together.  I'm thinking of growing my hair out because after looking at the pictures again I think a nice low updo to the side would look really nice with the dress.  And maybe some long pearl and crystal earrings.

Thanks so much for the advice ladies!  I'm feeling better already!
  • Excellent idea! I love the low updos (doing one myself!) if you don't already use it pinterest has been a wonderful resource for finding hair styles!... and everything else!!

  • Lets just say I am on my 3rd dress!  I went back home and went shopping with my family and was all excited with the hype and everyone liking it but as soon as I got home I was like that dress is so not me so I went to DB and could only exchange it for another so I went by myself and I am very indecisive and I found another dress completely different.  A few weeks had passed and as I watched shows and looked through photos I wanted something to show off my figure and make me feel sexier so I went with a whole different shop and found my dress and there are times I still doubt this one after getting it in and trying it on becuase I ordered a smaller size not realizing the bust would be smaller.  I have my first dress fitting nxt week so I am hoping that it will ease my doubts.

DB has been amazing through everything.  I couldn't get a refund for my other dress but they let me exchange it for the cost of the gown so I got my mom's dress, my rehearsal dinner dress and some accessories.

Goodluck and I can definently relate!
