Gratuities for DJ

Ladies -- I need your advice:

We're already paying our DJ, who owns his own company, $1400.00 for our cocktail hour and reception entertainment.   Should we give him an additional gratuity and if so, how much?

Thanks much -- we're only 5 days away!!!

Typically, when a vendor is the owner of the company, you do not need to add a gratuity. :)

I would wait and see how well he does.  Our DJ owns his own company but he did such an awesome job we're going to send him a tip anyway. We were so busy when he left we weren't able to do it at the reception.

I agree with PP...typically if a vendor owns the company you do not need to tip, but if you feel they go above and beyond, you always can.  See how it goes.  You can always mail it in a card later.
