dyeing shoes

Hi ladies,

and I'm debating if I should leave it in white. My dress is actually ivory but since no one will see my feet anyway in wouldn't matter so much. I want to be able to wear them again so i was thinking of having it dyed in a nude colour or light brown.
Can I have the shoes dyed after I use them for the wedding or should I do it before.

<div>I don't see why you couldn't have them dyed after.  Just be careful because the only time I've ever dyed a pair of shoes the color bled everywhere.  </div>

  • I have heard mixed things about dyeing shoes. I have heard the color can bleed and even rub off on your dress. I have also heard that if they get wet they will spot, etc.

I wore white shoes for my wedding and knew I always wanted white, so I never even considered dying them, but I know one of my BM's did and the color didn't come out the way she wanted it. I had asked them to wear silver shoes and it came out more grey. She ended up getting a different pair altogether. I felt bad bc I am sure that was wasted money, but she was the one who wanted to try it bc she really liked the shoe.
  • I would just look for different shoes in the color you want.  No need to dye and you can wear them over again.

  • Alert!  Alert!  Return the shoes!  They are on Rue La La right now for $99!!!!

Rue La La is a flash sale site, so they might not be there for too long.
  • Unfortunately I bought them already and I can't return them. I'm in canada so I didn't want to worry  about shipping cost. I wanted to buy shoes online because they were cheaper but I wanted to make sure they fitted my feet well. I tried on one of those strappy bridal shoes and I found them uncomfortable, the last thing I want to worry about are my shoes on the day of the wedding.
  • Cayla, I'm also curious about your plan to dye thes shoes.  On MyGlassSlipper, it says they are not dyeable.  Have you been told otherwise?

I'm asking because I'm thinking of buying the mary jane version on Rue La La and I want to dye them.  I'm worried!

<div>i was told by the salesperson that I can dye the shoes that I bought. I got it at a place where they sell only high end quality shoes and the badgely shoes were by far the cheapest shoes you can get there. Now I am assuming that he was telling me the truth and was just not doing a sale on me. </div><div>
</div><div>I was also at a different bridal store and i tried on a pair of white oscar dela renta which I loved so they had satin shoes there but it was dyed in silver. It looked really nice and I had no idea it was even dyed until the sales person told me so. </div><div>
</div><div>There's a place they recommended to me for shoe dyeing so I will let you know what they tell me. I wished I had bought the shoes in the colour I wanted but I went to so many different places and now that it's winter it was really hard to find summer shoes. I have to take my dress for alteration soon so I needed the shoes.</div>
  • It makes sense that a high end store would dye them.  I had a guy in Boston who could dye anything.  I actually emailed him last night with the shoes I want to see if he'd do them.

I think some places don't want work with shoes with the embellishments on those shoes (the knot on the front) because it takes precision.  So, they say they aren't dyeable, when they could be dyed if someone was very, very careful.

I might buy the open toed versions...I'm still trying to decide.  :)

The oscar shoes were peep toe and it it had rhinestones brooch style at the front so whoever dyed it had to go around the brooch. The lining of the shoes underneath where they usually have the brand name on were even dyed. So it can get done...I have to find out how much it's going to cost to dye the badgley shoes. I was going to get the oscar but I would feel bad spending that much for a pair of bridal shoes and plus I promised myself that if I were to spend over 500 on a pair of shoes it would be a loubotin. LOL!
  • Hee hee!  I hear you!  I was looking at some blue Louboutins myself.  They aren't the "right" blue for me, so I think I'm going to pass and get the Mischka's dyed instead.

Oh, the things we'll do for comfy and stylish shoes!
