How to update this Gunnysack dress?

I was thinking to shorten the sleeves a bit, make the neckline lower scoop, put a colored ribbon through the tie up in back.  

I look good in necklines that draw attention so I thought I'd add some bling to the neckline once I lower it.

What do you all think?

Shorten the sleeved, but don't go strapless or spaghetti strapped! Get it tailored to fit your body well. Maybe add a sash to the wait to draw attention to it, and beading to the neckline. Not sure I would add bling though!

Ditto to PP. I am not sure that lace and bling work well together. At least not on this dress.

You could shorten the sleeves, take it in on the sides to give it a waist.. I would even consider making it more fitted until right past your hips because I am a hippy girl and a-lines are not flattering on me. Or maybe shorten the sleeves and add some sort of a belt/sash below the bust to make it empire?

I think a floral sash rather than a blinged one would be more fitting to the look of the dress! Plus it will help define your waist

what if u got a really simple dress and added parts of that dress to make it your own. a bolero and a sash? exrtra fabric as a flower wrap. hair accessory.

Hi - I would shorten the sleeve to 3/4 length for sure - Would you consider having the dress altered so it is more fitted - I personally think this is a hard style to carry off - especially in white.  I would lower the neckline.  Anything you add to the dress should be simple, because of all the lace.  Maybe a simple satin sash, with some crystal work on it.  The other thing I would consider is having it hemmed a bit shorter in front to give it more shape.  I think your jewelry should be simple -  you might think about adding some color in the necklace.  I have a piece you might like - it's a variety of shades of silver and amethyst.

CJ, I really don't think this dress does anything for you.  I feel pretty positive that you can find something that compliments your figure so much better than this.
