Lingerie (sp?) Question

Should I get it before I try on dresses or purchase my dress then the lingerie?

BTW: I mean the stuff for under the dress.

Also: what should I wear (undergarments) for trying on dresses then?

I'd get it before you try on dresses.

I didn't try my reception dress on with the underwear that I was planning on wearing, and to my horror the slip and the skirt on my reception dress, although fine in regular white underwear, showed off my frilly special wedding day underwear a little too well. My MOH ended up ordering me to take off my panties and I spent the reception completely bare underneath my dress! (Which, fortunately, was floor length). I just had to pray that the pictures wouldn't show anything... and they didn't. But I still wish I'd been wearing underwear.

You need to find out what type of dress your going to wear before you buy a bra.  You may need a strapless, low back, or not need one at all but you woun't know until after you pick the dress.

I would bring a light color strapless bra and wear light colored modest undies when you try on dresses.  Sometimes the store can loan you a strapless bra (I know David's Bridal can), but better to bring your own if you have one.  Then wait to buy the undergarments you will wear with the dress until after you select the dress.

I brought a long line strapless bra with me.  I've had it for a few years from the last few times I were a BM.  I ended up buying a new one for the wedding, once I bought my dress.  I would also wear modest panties when going to try dresses on.  Only your FI wants to see your that much of your bum! 

Then after you decide on a dress, you can figure out what type of undergarments you will need.  There are often posts about brides having cups sewn into their dress to avoid wearing a bra for the day.  This could be something you choose.

I wore spanx to all dress try ons and I'm glad I did for the sake of the rep dressing me. I didn't buy the bra until later. Def get your stuff before alterations though.
