Short Wedding Dresses

So, I am using my mothers wedding dress, it is 20 plus years old.  I have a really good idea of what I want to do with it to make it more of my own.  I guess my thing is, I want it to be short, like right above my knees or right below but, I still want it to look like a wedding dress rather than a cocktail dress.  Any Ideas?

Post a picture! It would help to see what you are working with. But check out current short styles, like on BDLH or Allure. I think lace and ruffles help make a dress a wedding dress.

I wouldn't do above the knee if you're avoiding the cocktail look. Tea-length or below the knee is good though!

Tea length would be just the right idea.  Anything above the knee could pull off more of a cocktail look.  JMO
