MOB & MOG dresses

Do the MOB & MOG dresses have to match?  Also, should they get something coordinating with our wedding colors?  Our colors are light pink and gray.  MY FI mom is kinda old fashioned and asked what my mom was wanting to wear.  All I know is my mom wants to wear something knee length so I told FMIL that.  Also, I have been to some wedding where the moms were wearing cute black dresses and I kinda liked that.  Any idea on this?  I am kinda stumped as to what the rules are on this or if anyone even follows any.  Thanks ladies!

I told them just to pick out something that they love and feel beautiful in.   It would nice for them not to clash with wedding colors (like, wear red if all of the bridesmaids are going to be in pink), and white is generally out, but there is really no requirement for them to match each other or the wedding colors.

I definitely want them to pick out their own dresses and feel great in it.  I really don't care as long as they aren't in white or like you said, clashing colors.  Thanks for the response!

Moms get to wear whatever they want. There are no rules.

Even if there are no written rules, moms tend not to clash with the wedding colors. It looks tacky otherwise.
