Sad about shoes :-(

This is not the first time I've whined on here about my shoe search lol.

I'm just really sad because I literally *think* I found the perfect shoes for my dress but the shoes look like they may have been in last summer's Calvin Klein collection and so I can't find them in my size anywhere (sad face).  I've literally exhausted every shoe outlet that I can think of...even eBay and have found nothing.

Here they are in ivory...I'm looking for a size 11 ideally (at this point if I found a 10, I'd buy them too):

http://www.zappos.com/calvin-klein-nadia-ivory-satin

They just look like they'd go with my dress really well.  My dress is ivory and has a platinum/crystal belt embellishment that looks like this shoe would compliment really well.  These shoes also come in a platinum color but I think it's a little too dark.

Here's my dress for reference:

Sorry about my whining again lol.

Re: Sad about shoes :-(

  • I know how you feel.  I found the PERFECT shoe and it didn't come in my size.  I ordered a size bigger hoping I could make it work with inserts, but they were just way too big.

If you'll notice on zappos, they have a clicky where you can request to be notified if/when they get your size in.  Also, it could be tough to find the right phone number, but have you thought about reaching out to the company to see if they have any?  I'm thinking about doing that for the pair I found.

  • Yes, I definately signed up to be notified (a few weeks ago I did this actually) and still nothing :-(.  I googled the shoe during my search and they were on some fasion websites last summer so that's why I think they might be out of season and zappos might not ever get my size in (yet another sad face).

I thought even if maybe I could find a 10 that I could make it work by getting additional holes added into the strap since it just buckles but the biggest they have is an 8!

Calling them might not be a bad idea...it might be worth a shot!  Thanks :-)
  • Yeah, I'm 100% set on heels both out of comfort and sort of necessity.  Side story but I bought my dress at a trunk show so I get my additional length for free.  I'm 6'4" so obviously needed additional length anyways and also ordered an additional 3" in length to give myself the option of wearing whatever shoes I decided (assuming I hate heels enough to not go higher than ~3" in heels).  A week later, I get a call from the salon that said my ordered hollow to hem measure was an inch longer than the maximum length the designer does!  Wtf...haha not a big deal since I was pretty set on flats anyways but I can't go above a 2" heel at all now and that would be at max.

If I weren't set on flats anyways, they actually have these shoes in heel form!  They're called "Married" lol.  They're cute but they're like a 3" heel and I'd be miserable...I just really don't like wearing heels on a prolonged basis.

I'll look into the shoe clip route...I'm on hold with Calvin Klein too right now to see if they can find them for me lol.
  • I'd contact Calvin Klein directly and ask what happens to last season items?  Several times they're sent to outlets or stores like TJ Maxx.  I don't remember Calvin Klein having it's own outlet, but it'd be worth looking into...this is how I tracked down my Cole Haan Spring 2009 shoes for my 10/16/10 wedding.

  • Have you tried ebay? I've had pretty good luck with finding discontinued shoes there. A lot of ebay sellers snap up items like that at clearance sales and then resell them.

[QUOTE]Honestly, I wouldn't sacrifice the right size for those shoes.  They are really nice, but they certainly don't look "special" enough to be worth agony on your wedding day and potential pain even afterwards. Are you set on flats or would something with a heel be a possibility?  If so, you might look into ballroom dancing shoes.  Or find a plain pair of ivory sandals and add some sort of broach or shoe clip to get a similar feel to those.

I agree.  They're pretty, but I'm sure you can find something in a similar vein that will work--and still be comfortable!
  • Yeah I looked on eBay (and will continue to do) and they have a few pairs of them but none in my size.  I'm on hold with the retail distribution center for Calvin Klein so they can do an inventory search in their retail and outlet stores to see if anyone has them!  I'm like the 10th caller in line lol.  Must be a popular place to call for inventory searches??

Thanks for the help everyone!  I would have never thought to call them directly!  Sometimes in this internet age I forget that maybe google doesn't always yield the answer.
  • I'll look around online and see what I can find.  As your tall, big-footed sister, I know how you feel!
  • BTW, when is your wedding?  You'll likely find more options in a couple of months when the new spring/summer sandals come out!
  • Aww thanks you girls are awesome!

My wedding is next September so I definitely have time for some hunting once the spring shoes arrive.  For some reason these just caught my eye though and I find myself going back to them a lot.  I think my dress is supposed to get in sometime in April or so?  I guess I ideally would like to have shoes by my first fitting but I guess it's not a huge issue since I know I'm wearing flats right?  I don't know much about the particulars of hemming lol.

  • Hi! That's my dress too! I just wanted to congratulate you on your good taste :)

Good luck with your shoes, hope you find them!

  • As a fellow big-foot I feel your pain :)

Wait for spring/early summer.  There should be tons of fun sandals that come out.  I've always had decent luck with DSW.

  • i hope you find the shoes you're looking for. i found those sandals last week when i was searching online for shoe options. i also liked these: http://www.zappos.com/calvin-klein-rajah-gunmetal-pearlized-metallic

i didn't really like the price of either one, but i agree with other people that other labels probably have similar designs.

funny thing, we have the same wedding date and i'm looking for flat or low-heeled sandals too!

Good luck to you too!  Yeah, I liked those too!  I think those shoes in your link actually came in flat or a lower heel as well.  I vaguely remember seeing them but not in a heel.
  • Was anyone at CK able to help you?

  • In my opinion, they just look way too casual for that dress anyway. How about embellishing a pair of ballet slippers? They will be flat, comfy and I think compliment the ball gown a little more.
  • did you have any luck with CK?
  • Hey girls!  Sorry I had meetings all day at work so couldn't get on TK until lunch.

Anyways, I left a message with CK's distribution center manager last night.  She was already gone for the night but whatever operator I talked to said she should call me back this week (crossing fingers!).

sb9411 - Thanks!  It's a Lazaro.  I didn't know much about him until I started dress shopping and I ended up unknowingly have all my top choices being by him!

LowerEastSide - This is going to sound absolutely nuts to 90% of the people out there but I would absolutely go bonkers in ballet flats all night.  I seriously should have lived in Cali or Florida where there is no need to be in anything but sandals for most of the year because I have the most claustrophobic feet ever.  I obviously wear some sort of closed toed shoe to work but they drive me nuts.  I keep sandals in my car and under my desk at work and only put my real shoes on when I have to go do something away from my desk.  I know it's crazy.  I'm just uncomfortable otherwise.

So basically I'm trying to find a compromise between flats, sandals and formal enough to go with gown.  I may be asking too much?  :-(

  • Side note:  shorteee...I meant to comment on this last night but your dog is absolutely freaking adorable!!

I love these!  I didn't even see them when I was searching before...

They only had them in a 10 so I'm having them e-mail when they're available, but the thing about zappos is free shipping both ways!  I'll probably order them in the 10 JIC.  I've never tried on an Enzo shoe before so don't know how they run.  I can wear a 10 depending on the brand.

    Thank you so much!!
  • I just bought a pair of Enzo pumps and they are pretty true to size.  Maybe a smidge too big.

Hmm these might work then.  I'm across the board in different brands of shoes so something that runs a smidge too big (especially in a sandal) might be perfect in my "technically" smaller size.  I went ahead and ordered them in the 10.  With Zappos I can free return them anyways so if they don't work out there's no loss.

Still no word back from CK so I'm not holding my breath.
