HELP HELP HELP :(

I paid for half of my dress back in October, and it is supposed to come in next month, but I have a problem... I don't like the dress anymore :(

First of all, the sample I tried on was about 4 sizes too small, and I thought it was sweetheart neck, but its not. Also, the pick ups don't lay the way they do in this picture... I am really stressing about this dress and I really don't know what to do!!! Please help me. Here's a link to it. I like the back of it, its EXACTLY what I want, but do any of you know if there's anything I can do to take out/add to the pick ups on the right?

Re: HELP HELP HELP :(

  • A good seamstress should be able to help you.  It is easy to alter a neckline into a sweetheart.  I don't know much about putting pickups into a dress, but I am sure it is not difficult for a skilled professional.  My only concern with that would be that it would make the dress shorter.  That is not a problem if there is extra length.

  • I can almost guarantee you that your bridal salon will not let you back out of your order, especially this close to when it's suppose to come in.  Wait until it comes in and you can try it on in your size.  Talk to your seamstress before you do anything.  Most necklines can be changed and it looks like yours can be changed into a sweetheart with no problem.  A good seamstress will also be able to fix the pickups to lay the way you'd like them to.

  • That dress is very pretty :)  I agree with PPs that you should wait until it comes in and try it on in your size.  I know it's hard to get an idea of how a dress will look when it's the wrong size.  The pickups may lay differently once you are in the right sized dress.  Additionally, PPs are right on point about alterations.  Both the pickups and neckline can be fixed, so don't panic!  I'm sure you will find a way to make the dress perfect for you.

  • how do you know the pick ups don't lay right? You've not tried the dress on yet!! Making a neckline into a sweetheart is very simple. It's always easier to take out fabric than it is to add it.

I say just try it - and if you don't like it then have a seamstress help fix it the way you want.
