Veil or no veil??

I am getting married August 8th, 2010 and am still torn on whether or not I want to wear a veil.  I don't think I do...  but I can't make up my mind...  Here is my dress, its very detailed with the bead work and I am keeping the cap sleeves attached.  I am 5'1" and don't know if a veil would take away from the dress or make me appear shorter than I am.  (My fiance is 6'4")  (that is NOT me in the photo)

  • I feel the same way as you do but I am going to wear the dam veil. LOL. I picked out a simple one, it is elbow length..I figured I am only wearing it for the ceremony. 15 minutes and its gone. I just felt like it completed the look...but trust me....i hate them
  • I am 5'3" and thought that I didn't want to wear a veil either.  I bought one and was mad at myself for spending the money on something I didn't want.  Then, I had my hair trial last week and could not believe how pretty the veil looked with my hair all done up.  It was amazing!  I really felt like a beautiful bride.  Plus, like PP said, my fiance really wanted me to wear a veil.  But now, even I am excited to put it on! :)  I think it's worth a try.

  • I think that you could try a birdcage or different headpiece/hair accessory to get the best of both worlds. I don't think a veil would take away from you or your dress. If you're not comfortable with one, you could always go shorter and do an elbow length one and keep it simple.
I didn't feel like a bride until i put a veil on with my dress, never thought i was going to wear one before!

    Good luck!
  • I'd have to agree with vindu.  You might want to try fascinators or birdcage.  You can easily Google a lot of beautiful DIY fascinators with easy instructions.  I'm petite myself and sometimes when I wear my long hair down, I feel like it's just making me shorter since it *may* emphasize the short length of my torso.

    Goodluck on whatever you choose!
