Hello ladies!
My best friend is a fibers major at a famous art school with a focus in costume design. She makes AMAZING costumes. She also makes all of her clothing. I love her style and I know that what she makes is durable and quality, since I see her wearing her own stuff all the time.
She is going to make my wedding dress, and although she's never made a wedding dress before, I have full confidence in her abilities.
We already went to two different bridal shops and I tried on over a dozen dresses to get an idea of what I like, and we've taken a bunch of pictures. Sometime next week we're going to sit down and go through sketches that she's made and see what I like. She's also going to make me a "demo" version of the dress in muslin (cheap fabric) to make sure I like it before going all out and doing it in the real stuff.
All sounds great right?
Now here's where I'm concerned:
I'm leaving a week from Sunday and I'll be gone for two weeks. We're already less than 9 months away from the wedding. Since she's my best friend, I feel weird imposing a deadline and I don't want to sound like I'm nagging her all the time asking if something's done or not. I also feel like I need to, for my own sanity... you know, in case she can't get it done in time since she's still in school and I need an emergency backup plan.
How should I handle this?
