6 days until wedding and dress does not fit and cannot be le out!!!!!

Actually it is my 25th anniversary vow renewal. I bought the dress at'Nordstroms 4 months ago. It no longer fits, even though I have weighed on two scales that say I have gained 2 lbs. It is so tight across my boobs that it pooches up in the back.
Should I fast and take water pills and hope for the best?
Order more dresses from Nordstroms with two day delivery?
Go to David's Bridal.
All three things to be safe.
My ceremony is the 17th and out of town!!!!!!!
Viv in a panic who is sick of her full bust!!!!!!

  • Can the back of the dress be turned into a corset style?
  • Diet and exercise and you should be able to take off at least two pounds if that's all that's necessary.  Get a backup dress that you will be able to return if you don't end up wearing it.  This way you'll be all set!  If you lose the weight, you can wear the original.  If not, you have a dress that fits that you'll be comfortable in!

  • I was told when I purchsed the dress that it would not be altered in or out because the bodice is braided in a criss cross fasihion all the way down to my belly button. I think I am going to do all three things. Order two dresses I like from Nordstroms although clealry not as nice as the first, try to lose weight, and go to David's Bridal. If nothing else, I will be returning a lot of dresses. Of course I am still very nervous and I usually keep my cool. It was just a shock how uncomfortable my orginal dress was.
  • J. Crew Is also having a sale right now.  Get a backup dress.  As you're shopping, repeat this mantra:  It doesn't have to be a certain color, it doesn't have to be a certain length, it doesn't have to be a certain style.

It sounds like you can get the dress on, it's just too tight.  If that's the case you should be able to eat light for a few days and get it to look right.  But definitely find something that looks nice on you as a backup just in case.

  • I think your plan is a good one. Do your best to drink plenty of water and limit your salt intake, and maybe that will relieve some of it. Don't go too crazy with trying to drop weight--you just can't lose very much in 6 days healthily.

It's smart to have a backup dress just in case, but make sure that you double and triple check the return policy. No one wants to get stuck with an extra dress!
  • Thanks Ladies. I will check J. Crew. It is harder for me because this is a vow renewal, so I want something pretty but not tooooo bridal.
  • Have you tried any shapeware?  Perhaps that might help as well.  Good Luck!
  • Its really hard, but you can loose 1lb a day on the Lemondade diet. Thats atleast 5lbs by your wedding, and that should help get the dress closed!

Experiment with different bras since they can drastically differ on the way they lift, close, or flatten the bust.  What bra were you wearing when you tried on the dress?  If the dress indeed fits so tightly, have you considered going without a bra?
  • Would it be possible to turn the zipper into a corset style back?  Since it's the top that doesn't fit, that could fix the problem.
  • Don't fast too much.  A dress is NOT worth passing out or feeling sick at your wedding.  Drink lots of water to flush out water weight and avoid all processed or packaged foods.  I agree with PPs about getting another dress just in case but make sure you can return it just in case!  Good luck!

  • If you can afford to. Get a personal  trainer that will train you hard until a few days before wedding. Some have really great prices for brides. That will be easier than going through the hassle of buying a new dress etc.
