Veil or No Veil?

Re: Veil or No Veil?

  • i'm having a black birdcage veil with rhinestone accents and a feather poof on top. It reminds me of a spider, which works perfectly for my halloween wedding.

  • Elbow length veil with blusher. Haven't decided if I am doing a comb or tiara yet. Don't have a pic bc just ordered it.
  • I'm doing a fingertip veil however, it isn't that long once I put it on...it's more like elbow. I was going to wear it for the ceremony and after our first dance. Then I might take it off depending if it bothers me. =)

  • Originally planned to not wear a veil....then I tried one on with my dress. Fingertip length (little longer actually) no blusher. The lady at the dress store was right; a veil makes you look like a bride. This is the only time you can wear one so why not!? Although I agree it's a lot of money to drop on something you wear once for 30 minutes....maybe one day I'll have a daughter that wants to use it???????
  • I don't plan to wear a veil.  I am getting married on the beach in Jamaica and plan to wear a flower in my hair.  I'm not really a "girly-girl," and a veil didn't feel right on me.  I think the flower fits me better and fits the scene better.

  • Mine is an elbow length with no blusher, but i am wearing it low so it looks more like fingertip length. Also I am getting some kind of pins or hair jewelry to put in my hair because I plan to take it off for the reception!
  • I got a cathedral length veil to make up for the fact that my dress has a sweep train (very little at all).
  • Two layer elbow with a satin trim and a bit of beading. It has a blusher but I'm not going to use it.

[QUOTE]In Response to Re: Veil or No Veil? : I am doing this, but I will also have some hair jewels in so that I can take the veil off after the ceremony and still not look plain.

    Yup, I'm doing flowers.
  • Semi-cathedral length, single layer, cut edge, scattered rhinestones.  Using hair crystals so that when I take off the veil at the reception, it is still blingy.
  • Double layer fingertip with white satin trim.  Will use to layer as a blusher.  Don't know if it will stay on for the whole reception or not.  I got it for $20.00 at a consignment shop.
  • elbow veil, with blusher. my mom is making t so I won't see it until the wedding... I'm a bit worried that I won't like it, but I only have to wear it for a few pictures and the ceremony, so.. who cares, it will make her proud (that's all that matters to me)
  • simple, plain, single layer and thin (width wise) cathedral, $20, ebay :-P. I was originally anti veil or at the most a birdcage veil, but my dad bought it for pictures he wants to take and when I put it on with the dress I surprised myself and loved it!
  • I chose to do a Cathedral length to dress up  my dress a little more. I plan to remove it for the reception as my dress has a keyhole back and that detail is something I wanted to share.

  • elbow... I initially wasn't intending to do a veil at all. but when i bought my dress the consultant brought out a veil that i fell in love with. :) i will remove it for the reception though. i don't want it to get in the way during the DANCE PARTY. ;)
  • fingertip for the ceremony...no blusher.  flower for the reception.
  • I'm going to be wearing the veil my mom got married in.  It was hand-made by my grandmother.  It's just a little longer than fingertip length with gorgeous lacing around the edges.

  • I had planned on no veil, but when I found my dream dress, there was a veil made especially for it that my mother fell in love with.

So, in a polar opposite of what I thought would happen, I will be wearing a cathedral veil and it's stunning :)
  • I'm not sure what length it is but I think it's a fingertip, or like PP said elbow.

I haven't decided if I will do the blusher but it does come attached. I was going to consult FI on this.
  • My veil is cathedral length - no blusher. It's ivory with white ribbon lining

  • Birdcage with a retro headpiece that goes with my dress.  That way I can take the veil off and keep the headpiece.
  • My veil is 2 teir finger tip with crystals around the edge!

  • I'm having a elbow or fingertip length veil with red satin edging to match my dress, no blusher.  But it will have 2 layers to add volume.  Also, my mom is making it for me so it will only cost about $10.  I could not see spending the $60 on a veil I'm only wearing for the ceremony!
  • Cathedral veil, with pearls and swarovski in no real pattern all around.  No blusher.  I'm having a Great Gatsby themed reception, so I will be trading my veil for a cloche hat after my first dance (and getting in a new dress)
  • Def having a veil! I was thinking fingertip or elbow length in two layers, one of which willl cover my face down the aisle.

  • I also originally was not going to wear a veil but saw one that looks like it was made for my dress!  So now I'm having a cathedriel veil, no blusher.  It's SO pretty, I fell in love with it almost as much as the dress.  I'm going to have it bustled so I'll be able to wear it during dinner, cake cutting, and the first couple of dances.  I'll probably take it off halfway through the night as the real party dancing kicks in  = )

  • Originally I was very against a veil, but FI really wants me to wear one, so just for fun I put one on at David's and I kinda loved it.  I haven't gotten mine yet, but it will probably  be elbow or fingertip length without a blusher and some kind of embellishment on it.
  • I am doing an Elbow length veil that my finances mom is making me!  Super excited and happy I found something for her to make for the wedding as she had been asking!
  • Lace edged chapel length veil (just past my train)
