Is Jacques worth it?

So we have several cake bakeries locally that have given us decent quotes and taste good. Is it worth taking 2 hours off from work to go do a tasting and quote at Jacques? Is it that much better then any other bakery?

I think that really depends on you, and your experiences at the other bakeries.

Personally, I LOVE Jacques' cakes; they are amazingly delicious and moist, the frosting is some of the best I've tasted, they're absolutely gorgeous, and the service we have gotten there for the wedding and in the past was just amazing.  I could literally rave about them for days, and to be perfectly honest just thinking about their cakes is making me want some of their cake.

However, if you have already found a place that makes cakes you found to be delicious and moist, gives you options you want, has practices you're okay with, and gives you the service you want - then maybe taking 2 hours of from work would not be worth it for you.

  • we are going with Jacques. It was the only bakery we went to so I really don't have anything to compare it to but everything was delicious!
  • We are also going with Jacques. I thought the prices were really reasonable, but I suppose that depends on what you want. We are doing a small 3 tier cake with sheet cakes to be cut in the back. Everyone there was really friendly and the I thought the cakes were amazing. We are going with an Espresso cake with Bailey's filling.

The cake was really good, but I have tasted other cakes that were just as good...not sure it would be worth it to take time off to go, unless you really didn't like the other places.

  • If you've found a bakery you like, stick with them.  I went locally with my cake and loved it!  And it was the same price as Jacques. I don't know that Jacques is any better than any other bakery.

  • I liked Jacques, but DH did not.....in the end, we went with someone else, (and it was much less expensive).

  • Since Jacques is close to where I grew up, I have had many of their cakes for special occasions, and have always loved them. They are incredibly professional, talented, and their cakes are delicious! We didn't taste anywhere else because I knew from day one that we'd go with them. I've tried other cakes at bridal shows, and in my opinion, Jacques is far above and beyond!

  • We did Jacques for our wedding...LOVE them!!! We are counting down until we can eat our top tier so we can relive the yummyness that was our wedding cake!! :) They were great to work with, it is definitely yummy, and they made a cake that totally went with the theme of our wedding.  I can't say enough about them.

  • Our wedding cake will alo be from Jacques but that is because it is included in my vendor package.  My sister is gettin married in June and she went with Chickadee Hill cakes.  I guess you have to decide how important the cake is to you.

  • Honestly, I went with Jacques and I was totally disappointed in our cake. The design was not exactly what we agreed on, and the frosting tasted like nothing we had tried during our tasting. I just do not get the hype. Chickadee Hill Cakes are way better.
  • FYI:  We went with Just Like Mom's Pastries  in Weare.

  • We tried like 4 bakeries and went with Jacques because they had the cake design that we liked the most. I guess Im not too picky when it comes to cake because I though they were all amazing tasting. I think Jacques definitely had the best presentation.
