Granite Rose Opinions/Experiences?

Hi everyone,

I'm new to the boards, got engaged back in September and now getting more serious about finding a venue for my June 2011 wedding (I hope).  I visited The Granite Rose this weekend and actually loved it, it was pretty much within my price budget and the staff seemed very nice, helpful, and flexible to work with me on pricing.

Have any of you attended or held you wedding here?  Can you share any insight, experiences, comments, opinions?  I'm looking to do a Sat afternoon ceremony and reception.  Which rooms have you been in?  Was there another wedding going on at the same time - was it something noticeable or wold you have had no idea another party was there?  How was the food?

Any help would be great before I go ahead and book my date!

Thanks,
Samantha

I just recently attended a wedding there in November. She had the downstairs room, not sure what it's called. I thought the hall was nice but she had a family style dinner and by the time the food got to our table (near the back) it was already cold and most of the hor d'oveures (sp?) didn't make it to our table. There was another wedding going on upstairs and you only noticed it when they had their ceremony (inside of course) but other than that, you wouldn't even know there was another party there. But overall, I've heard lots of great things about them. Hope that helps a bit!

I just got married there in January! It was GORGEOUS! I got so many compliments- everyone loved it. The food was amazing, you can go to a taste testing there and see for yourself. We did plated dinners. I had baked stuffed haddock (so good) and honey dijon chicken and I didn't hear one complaint (don't do the ceasar salad though,  I didn't think it was that good, although most people liked it, oh & the wedding soup was so yummy). My wedding was in the Embassy Room, and there was no other wedding going on, which I liked.

^^thats a slideshow of my wedding if you want to see how the pictures came out. Mine was in the winter, so we couldn't do much outside, but if you have it in the summer, it is even prettier!

If you have any more questions let me know.

Granite Rose is a lovely place. We ultimately chose Atkinson Country Club but Granite Rose was the runner up! I've been to a couple of weddings there and the food was terrific. Nothing bad to say about it--we just ultimately liked ACC a LITTLE better.

    GL!
