Wedding Shoes Blues

My first post EVER. Hooray! Anyways, I'm having a slight shoe situation.  I have my mind made up that I want sparkly/glitter/shiny/all of the above purple peep-toe pumps for during the ceremony (I will be switching to flats for during the reception). I have found some pairs that I am absolutely in love with, however, the majority of them have approx. 4 inch heels. I have not found any ones I like with a smaller heel height.  I am 5'9", and my fiancee is 6'2".  With those 4 inch heels, that would make me only an inch shorter than him. I'm not sure if I'm a fan of that
Thoughts?

Re: Wedding Shoes Blues

  • I don't think it really matters, but if it were me, I wouldn't want to be taller. If you're posting here, my guess is that you're uncomfortable with the idea. Could you get some gittery flats?

I would also be worried about wearing 4" heels for an extended period of time.  I know you're planning to switch to flats, but I would assume you'll still have your heels on for at least a couple of hours.  Between height and comfort, I opted for like a 2.5" heel.  I wore them all night!  They were gold and sparkly :)

  • I'd definitely reconsider 4" inch if you plan on switching to flats at some point in the night. Your dress will drag on the floor significantly when you change shoes. Try looking into shoes that you can dye purple.

  • Hi,
I am new to this forum. Not sure if anyone will be able to assist. Bought this pair of shoes online and they send me the wrong size and the company I got them from are not very helpful. Please direct any brides to be/bridemaids who maybe interested in getting a pair of sparkling gold shoes. http://vancouver.en.craigslist.ca/bnc/clo/3546659607.html
I just want to spare a little bit more funds for my budget wedding. Thanks.

  • OP, I would rethink the 4 inch heels.  Unless your dress is tea length or shorter no one will see your shoes during your ceremony, unless of course, you decide to flash them to everyone before the vows begin.

I too wanted amazing shoes for my wedding but bought a pair of wedged flip flops to change into if my feet started to hurt.  The only time my shoes were seen was when I lifted my dress for a picture.  No one else knew what kind of shoes I had on.  I wish I had just worn my comfy wedges because as soon as the ceremony was over my heels were off and the wedges on.

Also know that if you go with the 4 inch heels and then switch to your flats your dress will be dragging on the ground by 4+ inches which will cause you to trip over it or have to carry it in your hands all night to get around.

  • Thanks everyone! I never considered the fact of the dress hanging on the ground after switching shoes. It sounds like too much trouble to go thru for a cute pair of shoes that no one will see! I've decided to go with something more traditional (and comfortable!) for during the ceremony. For the reception I will whip out some pretty little sparkly purple flats! Laughing
  • I agree...same issue, i'm 5'9 and my guy is 6'0, so 4" heels which are pretty standard isn't something I like. Even 3.5 seems high lol who knows.  I would go barefoot but we are getting married in a church lol

  • I wouldn't worry so much about being only an inch shorter than walking in 4" heals all day when everybody and their moma is going to want to give you a hug!  That being said, I am already taller than my fi naturally.. does anyone have some stilts he can borrow?
I want a love like Johnny & June!
