Glasses...yes or no?

Re: Glasses...yes or no?

  • Wow all those links to brides in glasses made up my mind!  No way for me!  I can see without my glasses though so I may not be the best person to ask.  I only have one bad eye and I went for years without wearing glasses other than driving so I can manage one day.  Nope no glasses for me!

  • if you like your glasses, and theyre a 'neutral' style, wear them!! i know its a different case, but i remember my senior HS pictures, and the photographer suggested that if you always wore glasses, to wear them for the shoot, or at least for some of the pics, because that is how you looked. sure ... looking back, the glasses might look dated. but looking back, in twenty years, the picture WILL be dated. styles will always be different in the future.
for my senior pics (8 years ago! YIKES!) i wore them in some, and off in some. my parents chose one with my glasses as the main pic, because they were ME at the time.
  • We are getting married the same day! =)

I say do whatever makes you feel beautiful and like "you."  If you are nervous about glares, take them off for pictures, or get your photographer's opinion on what to do for photos.  If you like them, wear them!
  • I just saw this pic this week of Lisa Loeb at her wedding with her glasses on, and I think she look beautiful!

  • It really depends on what type of wedding you are having, the more formal - the more I'd lean to not wearing the glasses.  Do you generally take pictures with your glasses on or off?

  • I must say that the style of glasses change so quickly that it might be wise to skip them on the big day. For example, remember those big coke bottle glasses that were so popular? How about the cat eye glasses? When you show your wedding album to your grand-kids you will don't want them laughing at your dated glasses. Also, wearing glasses could cause a glare in photos because of natural lighting or a camera flash.
  • I never thought of the glasses thing to be an issue, but now as I read everyone's posts, I don't know what I'm going to do anymore. I wear glasses all the time but have worn contacts off and on for the last few years. I also feel like my face looks fatter if I dont wear my glasses. hmmmmm. I do think that you should do what you feel is most comfortable and if you are going to wear contacts, practice wearing them. You don't want your eyes to be bugging you the whole day!
  • Definately do the contacts.  I always wear my glasses but I bought a few pairs of contactsfor special occasions and they aren't bad.  Give them a trial run before the wedding so you know what to expect.
  • It's a toss up.  If your glasses are the one thing that you're known for & you love the look then keep them.  If you're not uncomfortable without them & want a different look then wear contacts.  With contacts, you get to show off your fab make up and all the attention goes to your dress.  If you get contacts, be sure to get them a couple months in advance to get used to them.
  • It's totally up to you...and how you feel about it, I think if you second guess it once, you should just go without them. Some people who have glasses LOVE their glasses and never want to take them off. But when I look at all these pictures of brides, my eyes are just drawn to their glasses and not their whole face. I think it takes away from your face...JMO
  • A friend of mine wore contacts during the ceremony...then after pictures were taken she wore her glasses for the rest of the day...
  • I've worn glasses since I was five (I'm now 22), and I'm going to have contacts for my wedding day.  My fiance says he doesn't mind either way, my glasses don't match my dress or wedding colors, and I've been looking for a reason to get contacts for a while, so I'm going for it.

I think it'll be a really nice surprise, too, for everyone who has seen me with glasses on forever.  It'll be a 'wow' moment when I walk down the aisle.
