Multicolor BM dresses

I got engaged on Christmas morning and I am now planning my wedding for this June.. soon, I know!  While looking through a magazine I found a bouquet that I fell in love with and it inspired my BM dresses.  The bouquet was full of many types of flowers, as well as, multiple colors.  It was purple, pink, orange, yellow, and had some green accents.  I am going to have 7 bridesmaids and 1 junior bridesmaid.  I found a BM dress that is knee length and halter top that comes in around 20 different colors.  I was able to match the bouquet almost perfectly!  The plan is to have 2 girls in each of the four main colors (purple, pink, orange, and yellow).  Each BM will hold the multicolor bouquet and mine will be offset with white flowers added in.  I love this idea, but I'm not sure that it is a GOOD idea.. so what do you think??

Re: Multicolor BM dresses

  • I think that sounds so cute!  And perfect for a summer wedding!!!
  • IMO, if all of the girls are wearing different, bold colors it can be a bit overwhelming to look at and detract attention from the bride. Personally when I look at pictures like that I'm just not sure where to look first. However, it's your day and if a really colorful look is what you want, then it could be really cool.

  • aw yes i do think this looks neat in summer weddings. & like have the groomsman's ties go with whatever dress color of the girl they walk with or whatever lol i saw a picture like this a ''rainbow'' wedding & it looked cool esp with the bride in white. i think maybe it could be cool if only you carried the multicolored bo-k & they carried white or something..
  • I've seen it done before and most of the time it was cute. Just be sure your BMs like the dress style before you proceed.

Also ... maybe consider having them each carry white flowers, and you carry the multicolored bouquet? I think that that might help prevent color overload.

  • We had different color dresses and my MOH wore a long dress while the other girls wore short.  Worked for us.

  • I've seen this idea before and I personally love it. I think it's a great idea, no matter what season the wedding is, but think it's superb for a summer wedding! :-)

However, I second pp and say that you may want to consider carrying the multicolor bouquet yourself. I personally don't like it when brides carry white bouquets as it's just too much white. I carried a blue and white bouquet, more blue than white, but my AA wedding dress had a lot of blue in it as well as the trim on my veil.

I think the girls would look great with white bouquets. However, if you don't want to do that, what I would do is have each girl carry a bouquet that matches, and *only* matches her dress. So, a girl in a blue dress would carry an all blue bouquet and you could still carry white.

GL with however you do the bouquets - I am sure it will look beautiful! :-)

All your BM dresses look like the same color.  This girl is talking about 2 in yellow, two in pink, etc. and then multi colored bouquets in all those colors for each BM.
