So, I realize this question is best answered by a seamstress, but I'm curious if anyone else had this problem.
My dress came in last week and I tried it on Saturday. The length is perfect (hallow to hem worked!) and the sizing is great. One thing, though, is that I think it's a bit tight around the ribcage. There is vertical boning that runs from just under my boobs to my waist all the way around the dress. It's very stiff in that area. The shop, however, told me that it's fit very well.
Clearly, I didn't want to take the dress off so I walked around, sat down, etc in the dress for about twenty minutes. When I took it off, I had red marks around my waist where the boning ended. In some places, it was quite red and deep.
Has anyone had boning removed from their dress? I was told that was an option, but I'm worried it will ruin the dress in some way. I also thought about wearing something underneath the dress so the boning didn't actually get to my skin. I could also let the dress out slightly, but that option was a distant third as they really feel the dress is fit perfectly and it's the boning that is the problem.
I really would have let it go and "suffered" because the dress is just gorgeous (siggy!), but Mom is concerned that I might really hurt myself after wearing it all day. I agree that that is a possibility
