MEGA CRISIS averted--kinda long!!

OKAY! so a couple of weeks ago my mom sent my BM her dress via UPS--she lives in Orlando.  We were all tracking it and it said it was delivered to the door on April 1st.  She insured it for as much as the dress was worth.  No one had to sign for it..which was weird to begin with..but okay...so we were a little nervous.  Well my BM never actually received her dress!!  She said none of her roomies did either.  I am thinking...haha april fools...but when the convo lasted more than 5 minutes, I knew she wouldn't do such a cruel thing to me! BM thought well maybe it got delivered to the wrong building and maybe someone will be honest and return it during the weekend. ---ehhh...not so much! Her neighbors said they didn't know anything about it.

Well my mom gave BM till Monday, that if it turned up everything would be awesome--but if not...she needed to file a claim saying it was stolen.  So Monday came and the claim was filed.  I told my BM to go to a dress shop close to her and order a brand new dress and to put a rush on it--just in case!! I told her I would send her the money she already gave me as a deposit and hopefully get that quickly too.

Well UPS said they were going to speak with the driver because if no one was there, the driver should have taken it to the office if opened or left a "hey we stopped by and missed you note".  UPS told us that by the end of next week they will let us know if we would get the money back.  So they told us to tell BM to wait on going to the dress shop.

OKAY....so just waiting....BUT WAIT! yesterday..BM's roomie texted her saying UPS tried to deliver something but the roomie couldn't sign for it that my BM had to since it was in her name.  ***DING DING DING***  UPS must have called up the drivers in that area saying.."HEY you better deliver it if it is still in your truck and only accept a signature from ****..." So she calls me saying that they might deliver it tomorrow and thursday and hopes it is the dress.  Her bday is thursday so he could be something from her mom too.

THEN!! today--my BM tells me for some reason they delivered a box from TX and her roomie was allowed to accept it!! She said the box was beat up really bad.  I said well...you need to take pics in case the dress is damaged we can still claim it.  Her roommate opened the box and LOW and BEHOLD---a vintage leaf Mori Lee BM dress was there!! WOOOOOOO!!!! So happy!  So now we can have the claim disregarded and BM officially has her dress! MEGA CRISIS AVERTED!

Word to the wise---get the shipping insurance!!! Its worth it!! I will NEVER ship anything of this high importance EVER again!!

  • Wow, glad everything worked out for you!
  • I am so happy everything was ok with the bridesmaid dress.  I am scared that something like that is going to happen to me.  I have 2 BM's in CT, one in MI, one in MA, and one in Austin, TX and I live in El Paso, TX.  I really wanted to give the bridal shop I bought my dress at the business but now I'm scared!  I will definitely keep the shipping insurance in mind when the time comes.

I was just looking at your bio and my wedding date was November 6, 2009!  Our actual big wedding won't be until August 19, 2011 thanks to the Army but we will always celebrate on Nov. 6th.
