BM dress dilemna

Merry Christmas all! Hope you had a great day!

Anyways, when I was home for Christmas through random circumstances I was able to get my MoH and one of my two BMs. So getting to go shopping with the two of them was like Christmas had come early!

I had originally planned on letting each of them pick their own dress, with my deciding color and length. But they sort of convinced me that it would look better uniform, which I had already thought of...but on BM is SoCal, one in South Carolina and my MoH is in NorCal...I'm in Nevada. So we can't all look together so I thought it was easier for them to just pick.

So these are what we came up with in the end. Anyways, my ceremony starts at 6p.m. so it's an evening wedding. Everyone, and I do mean everyone keeps telling me that the dresses should be long because evening means formal. (That's options 1 and 2).

I REALLY want my WP to be comfortable and happy. I also know its my wedding day. So tell me what you think of the options below and what you think about how it "should" be long since it's an evening wedding.

Option 1:

Option 2:

  • I like the style of the first one - the skirt looks to be a little fuller and I like the gathering in the bodice.  I like the claret color better than the deep turquoise.

For an evening wedding, I wouldn't go with the shorter dress - it looks too casual for a formal occasion.

    Good luck!

  • They all are pretty, but I like the 1st dress the best!!

  • I like dress #1, it's very pretty and would fit nicely with an evening wedding.
  • The color will for sure be claret if I didn't mention that before....

  • Honestly, I can barely tell the first two dresses apart, they all look REALLY similar.

Since Alfred Angelo is all over the country, why not ask your girls to get into a store ASAP, try them both on, and then put it to a vote?  Then majority rules.  If they like both of them, then you can just flip a coin, or go with whichever one is cheaper.

Sometimes I feel like people think that brides are delicate little flower princesses who get all dressed up and pretty for one special moment of their dreams, when really they're just normal people who just happen to be getting married. Things shouldn't have to be sugar-coated for grown-ass women. -mstar284
  • Two of my three did try them on....and they liked all of them.

Well MoH liked the beaded one (option 2)

And BM (J) liked option 1 because she thought the beads would make her itch....

So what I would then do is MoH would wear option 2, BM (J) would wear option 1, and my FSIL who is my other BM would wear option 1 as well, but we would attach straps because she has a bigger chest than the other two.

But both of the girls that tried them on liked all three of them....and there's only about $20 difference in the prices.

I'd let the one who hasn't tried it on yet be the tie-breaker.  Or what you proposed sounds like a good plan too.  You could maybe get MOH a beaded sash if you go with the non-beaded option.
