Need bridesmaid dresses for wedding in 5 weeks - please help!

Hi all-
My friend and her fiance just decided to get married on Aug. 21 (family member who lives abroad will be in town) and I now need to find two bridesmaid dresses but am having no luck.

Does anyone have suggestions for a store in So Cal where we can find decent bridesmaid dresses with that short timeframe? 

One of us is mid-20s, the other is early 30s so we're not looking anything prom-like or matronly.  Ideally, the other bridesmaid and I would prefer dresses that we could wear again, however, it's the bride's day and at this point, we simply need dresses.

As for budgets, if we can wear them again, we're willing to spend up to $450 per dress, if not, we'd like to keep it under $200.  As for colors, the bride prefers that they be red.

Does anyone have suggestions or tips that could help?  Any and all advice is much appreciated.

I would try posting this on your local board, you may get a better response there. This is an international board.

My best advice would be to go to David's Bridal. You probably can't go designer this close to the wedding bc they have to be ordered well in advance unless you can buy something right off of the rack at the bridal salon. You may have to pay rush delievery fees wherever you go bc of the timeframe. Good luck

I would definitely suggest buying from a mass market retailer rather than a bridal store, that's for sure. You'll be able to get dresses in a matter of a couple of weeks, and they'll be easier to rewear. The exception might be David's Bridal, since they have a lot in stock that you can buy off the rack. They have some cute sundresses these days.

Try places like Macy's, Ann Taylor, White House Black Market (they do have red!), and J. Crew. There are plenty of others, but these are some good starting points.

Department store, or David's Bridal.  Remember, you're not limited to clothing marketed as a "bridesmaid dress."

Agreed with PPs, especially with your budget and needing only 2 dresses.  Just got with bride to a department/national store and shop around!

Go to your local upscale department store, and start looking! I'll bet you can find a gorgeous red dress the two of you love in no time. I know last season Calvin Klein had some stunning red silk cocktail dresses out in the same material, with slightly different styles- so just go shopping and I think you'll be fine!

Sometimes you can get lucky with consigment shops, as they may have several BM from one wedding there.

I would avoid Davids with such a small time crunch and hit up the mall instead.  I would try Dillards and Macys.  I like this one

I just wanted to thank everyone for your suggestions and let you (and anyone else who finds themself in this situation) know that we're going with Butter By Nadia dresses - http://butterbynadia.com.

They're almost identical to Two Birds dresses (http://twobirdsbridesmaids.com) in that it's one size fits all, customizable style, etc. but they can arrive within a week.
