DRESS SIZE HELP!!

When I bought my dress months ago I was IN LOVE with it. It was a size 22 and I have always been a big girl. Recently though I got on meds for my throid and was able to drop some weight. Sadly, this good things is now horrible seeing I currenlty measure around a 16/18 and lose most of my dress. I am wondering if anyone had experience in resizing. I know its easier to take in than let out but I am about near crazy worried if this CAN be fixed (my appintment for tailor is this thursday).

It is a strapless with a LOT of detail in the bust/sides and it has "ribes/bones" to kind of make the shape.

any positive or realistic ideas??

Of course it can be fixed! First you should talk to the alterations people you are working with on Thursday, thats a few sizes to pull it in, but they should be able to do it. Does it have a corset back? If so, they should only need to drop it down a size or two and then just pull the corset back tighter. I see your wedding is in July, they might have time to exchange it for a smaller size, but doubt you will need to do that.
  • The back is  a zipper. I had a friend of mine say they fixed hers by making the back into a lace up-but it cost money. I wish I could get a different size but I bought a previous season so I bought the one they had (which fit amazing before).

I hope it is fixable..my princess dress is the ONE thing other than my FH I am super excited about haha
  • They will be able to resize it without you losing any part of your dress. My seamstress explained to me that they take off every bead lace etc to size it then they put them all back on in their exact spots like it had never moved or been touch. Don't worry to much just have faith in your seamstress. And congrats on losingallof that weight!

  • Don't worry.  I lost 40 lbs from when I ordered my dress to now.  I've had my dress re-fitted and you would never know it went from a 16 to a 10.  You will be fine!
  • A good tailor can work miracles. For my friend's wedding one of her bridesmaids dropped out and so another girl stepped into her shoes. The original maid was a UK size 14 but order 2 sizes up because she was pregnant. The second maid is a US 4. The dress was taken in by 5 sizes but you would never have known it hadn't been a bespoke piece made for her.

  • Thank you for the well wishes everyone. I go in to meet with the people tonight @ 5:30 and I am very anxious. Today at work is going to be hell because I amworried about my grandfather (his eye surgery is today) AND this dress. Much more worried about him but the dress is a good 2nd.
  • They are fixing it. A TON of fabric needs to be removed and they are adding in boobs...seeing I lost mine..but it is doable!
  • So happy for you!
