HELP!!!! second thoughts about my dress!

So I am having 2nd thoughts about the wedding dress I bought.... I was proposed to last May and was so excited I went dress shopping 2 weeks after... well my Wedding is in September this year and since I bought my dress I have been having second thoughts about it... I think I have been watching too many episodes of "say yes to the dress".    Also, the dress I did by I never got "that feeling" like "this is the ONE"    I am unable to return the dress I bought, I would have to sell it on ebay if I wanted to get another one, but I'm not sure I want to spend money on another one.
I did try on another dress since I bought my first one and fell in love with it.  But it was WAY out of budget.  I like the dress I have but I am afraid there is something better out there.  One of my BM was mad I even tried another dress on and said that I should be happy with the one I bought.  If I wasn't supposed to have it then I wouldn't have bought it.  (But I am easily pressured and a people pleaser so I am afraid I might have bought the dress because everyone else liked it so much. )

Should I just settle for the dress I bought or should I look for another one?

HELP PLEASE!!!!!

Re: HELP!!!! second thoughts about my dress!

  • I go through this every few weeks.  I got engaged in July, bought my dress in September, and I'm getting married this November.  But I do try my dress on every so often (when I got my shoes, etc. to see if it worked) and every time I do, I remember how much I love that dress, and realize that it really is my dress, even though I never got "that moment" when I was in the bridal shop.  I really think that the whole idea of brides having the moment of "this is it" and crying is made so much bigger than it should be by the bridal industry.  Remember: you chose your dress for a reason.  Good luck!

Do not look for another dress. Many people do not get "the one" feeling when trying on the dress. What they do find is a dress that they love above all the others that they have tried on (normally).
A couple of problems: 1. Is you got the dress way to early. Looking that early is fine. It helps narrow down what looks good on and style preference. 2. A big problem is you kept looking at dresses after you bought yours. Continuing t look after buying the dress gives plenty of opportunities to doubt oneself.  3. A major no no and problem is you tried on a dress that is out of your price range/ budget that you liked. You ended up loving it and being unable to get it most likely makes you want it more. Many people try on a just one dress out of there price range when shopping and end up falling in love with it.
At least you are not alone when it comes to this problem. Plus do you really hate the dress you bought that bad?

Sorry about being so harsh but its the truth. Plus PP is right. Try it on again and see how you feel.

  • I've gotten some great advice - once you buy the dress quit looking at other dresses and do not try any other dresses on!

    Cool
  • I went through something similar, doubting my dress choice.  If the dress looks good on you, don't get another one.  Try it on again and if you really hate it then consider selling it and getting another one.  Don't worry about not having the feeling that it's "the one".  Not all of us had that (I didn't).
