Underwear colour

i bought some nice underwear to wear on my weding day - bra and pant but when i went for my dress fitting i was told i needed to wear a corset to stop the dress crumpling because of my bra. iv seen a beautiful (and a ffordable) corset but its baby pink. my dress is a traditional duchess satin and heavy weight - my question is do you think you will be able to see coloured underwear through a white/ivory dress? or can i wear what ever colour corset i want - i cant find a white corset in a high street store (UK) and i want to try it on before i buy it - i only have a month until the wedding. i dont want to spend lots of money but the pink one is really pretty - i dont want it to show through my dress thou - what do you think??

Re: Underwear colour

  • It would certainly be worth a try, though satin does come in a lot of different weights. Is there any way you could buy it, check it out with the dress, and return it if it doesn't work?
  • annoyingly not - i wont be seeing my dress again until 2 days before the wedding - by which time its a bit too late!
  • It depends whether you want something fully steel boned or whether plastic bones are ok for you (they can warp and become mishapen if you sit down for any length of time). Ann Summers is probably your best bet for a decent quality plastic boned corset, otherwise the internet is your best bet. I've purchased from http://www.corsets-uk.com/index.asp before and the quality is excellent. If you get someone to take your measurements you shouldnt have any trouble with not being able to try it on before you buy, but their returns policy is pretty darn good!

  • why can't you see your dress?  can you atleast go in and try it on with a prink bra, or get a piece of fabric about the same color and hold it up under?  Grandted I got my dress from a chain discount store, where they don't store your dress, and outsource alterations, but I don't see why you can't go in and just look at your dress?  You don't need anyone with you just to hold up or try on undergarments under it for a few seconds...
I am having a custom corset made on Etsy, and had her make it white only just in case....
